Lampley sometimes doesn't have a clue what he's talking about but, he's fun to listen to...I don't know about all the personal stuff I've read, I just know he's a great announcer, even when he's wrong...
He does that often, rumor says he's an emotional wreck. Can't name them but I remember many final thoughts with Jimmy almost breaking down. Lampley, Merchant and Roy are a great team though, I'd can Manny in a heartbeat and have Roy in every single show, especially if that stops him from facing hard hitting cruiserweights at 42. AWWWWWWWWWWW MY GAWWWWWWD!!!!!!! was funny from Steward though.
i think vereybody was shocked at the fight was so good. It was like an old school throw back. Man good **** yo they bombed away and that over hand right shocked stewart if i wasnt so drunk I wouldv shed a tear myself
He did tear up a bit because he was talking about the story of Ortiz and how Ortiz came to be. And the ones of us who watched past broadcasting saw that Ortiz came up living with a hard life.
Lampley likes to cry. He welcomes the sorrow that prompts his tears. He's a sentimental twat. Sentimentality - like most things in modern culture - is about cynical self-regard. Lampley wants to show what a big-hearted man he is. It makes me want to puke.
Lampley doesnt give a **** about Ortiz or any fighter for that matter. His massive ego wouldnt stand for it! He is as fake as they come, all a act. One thing about him though he is excellent at his job , speaks well and is completely comfortable in front of the camera unlike some of the rest at HBO boxing. HBO boxing wouldnt be the same without him. Very sharp man. But dont be deluded into thinking that he gives a ****.
I will take Lampley ANY DAY over the likes of Jim Gray... Yes Lamps gets choked up, but how refreshing is it that he actually has an affinity for the fighters he covers ? Instead of Merchant or Gray talking to the gladiators in a condescending fashion ! Ortiz`z story is amazing ! The odds he overcame to win a title. The kind of story that always made boxing amazing ! Poor kid who has a dream and then dares to pursue it... Lamps got emotional when describing Foremans upset KO of Moorer. Foreman who came back to win the title so he could further support his youth center. Fighs and fighters like this is what makes boxing the best !
he cried when barrera lost to pacquiao (i think), he cried when mosley lost to cotto, when cotto lost to margo, he always cried.
