Is it Sky or Khan who’s burning their bridges?

It's hard to see how it effects SKY at all.

This is just total stupidity from De La Hoya, all because he doesn't understand the UK Broadcasting market.

 

Khan will go back to Sky. His team would even more stupid not to.

 

Not for a while Rico. Khan Promotions and GBP will expect the Bradley bout to be aired on PPV in the UK. Due to this, it will be Primetime again

 

Ultimately Sky, Haye is retiring in October and after the Fraudley debacle there is now way they would screen any Haye fight that doesn't have Klitschko as a surname. Froch, lets see but the same with Khan the strength of any PPV event must be judged with the undercard. If that means working with Fwank Warren as a co-promoter for any uk based title defenses then so be it. He has the stable of fighters, Haye or Hatton promotions don't.

 

Khan - he looked incredibly **** to me in the arena, i actually couldnt beleive it.

He will lose again to his first real opponent - Bradley cant punch for **** so he may be able to flurry and run his way outa that one but he will come back with his tail between his legs in 12/18 months and there will be a public health warning because of the 'smug alert' eminating from Adam Smiths office

 

If Khan is going to base himself in the UK then being on Primetime is not a major issue. They will make more money than on regular sky and even as part of a PPV from the US he will just be recieving a fee.

If Khan sticks with Primetime and the channel actually invests in boxing and creating a brand for itself.

My issue with primetime is they just pop up when Sky reject something and stick £15 on it. Do a deal with Goldenboy to show Alvarez vs Rhodes and Marquez vs Judah as £10 PPV's along with Khan vs Bradley £15 and they will start to build somehting.

 

I think ''Team Khan'' have definitely come off worse than Sky.

Even though Sky promised Khan a PPV slot, going by the subsequent turn of events it was obviously given on the proviso that there was a strong undercard, featuring title fights of some sort containing fighters that people will be aware of and interested in.

As it was, the bill didn't really fit the bill (sorry ) and Sky were absolutely right to take the show off box office and offer the Khans an alternative solution.

What followed was a shockingly naive, and shortsighted decision from the Khans, to get Primetime involved and having DLH try to justify it by praising Primetime for ''doing it for the fans''. Eh? So fans will be forking out £15 for something they'd have gotten for free? :roflatsch

As I've said many times before, just when people are starting to warm to them they just shoot themselves in the foot - twitter wars, being tightfisted over purses to potential opponents, insisting that he's a PPV fighter when it's clearly not the case judging by their purported sales figures.

Khan's biggest problem is that whilst he's got the HBO backing, they insist on foreign fighters fighting who they want - plenty of Americans get away with fighting weaker opposition for a while as British fighters do here...... with the likes of Bradley, Ortiz, Berto, Pacquiao, Marquez all potential opponents for him in the near future it's likely that he could end up on the scrapheap over there and without a TV deal here.

By the time this comes out in the wash, Sky won't be short of other British fighters that are ready to take on everybody - DeGale, Gavin and Groves are all potential stars, there's Froch still knocking around and also Quigg, Frampton and Chisora that are likely to be involved in some big fights in the near future.

It's a PR disaster as far as I'm concerned, which reflects very badly on the Khans as a whole.

 

You are looking at this from a completely different viewpoint to SKY.

They wouldn't particularly care if boxing didn't exist at all. They don't go out looking for boxing bouts to air, or look into new promising fighters to invest in, for the simple reason boxing is just hard work in the UK. The only reason it is on currently is because the promoters come to SKY with an offer, if it looks reasonable they will do it, but beyond that the majority of those in power at SKY have little time for the sport.

 

Who suffers most will depend on how Khan's career go's from here.

The biggest fight in the division with Timothy Bradley is not a name many casual fans will be aware of. Combine this with a 4am start time and although Khan brings more than other domestic fighters how many of these casual fans will be buying the PPV card?

Sky may now be willing to go after Froch now he is a free agent whose fights are always good to watch and usually against stellar opposition.

The only way Sky could regret it is in event Khan fought Mayweather over here and out of spite didn't go with them. His team would be even more stupid to lose the treble, at least, number of viewers they'd get on Sky Box Office than Primetime. That said, wouldn't put past them.

 

Primetime have said they are keen to work with Khan again. HBO is the US platform and Primetime may now be the UK platform Oscar seems to like Primetime. It's a dedicated fight channel may help it.

And the chances of Mayweather fighting again are minimal. He's done with boxing.

 

Oscar doesn't "like" primetime. He likes money.

Right now Sky have cost this promotional event money, so obviously he's bitter.

They would always chose Sky Box Office over Primetime
