Khan is an idiot who is managed by bigger idiots. If Primetime's optimisim about how many PPVs they sold on Saturday is correct it is extremely likely that the Irish in Ireland and Britain bought the fight en-masse but Khan won't fight an Irishman, or perhaps British, ever again and future PPV sales will be very poor. His next fight, despite being between the 2 best Light-Welterweights in the World is nothing more than, as Boxing News said, a "Trade fight"... If Carl Froch, who has had a series of bigger fights over the last two years, still struggled to shift a huge amount of PPVas on Primetime than Khan certainly can't. Only Sky, out of the pay channels, can make him into a huge TV success...
If Mayweather vs Khan ever came off Mayweathers team would insist on Sky. Team Khan might be stupid but Al Haymon and Floyd Mayweather are not.
Frank is doing it the right way these days, build PPV events, not PPV bouts. May 21st if he pulls it off will be great.
That would depend on the deal regarding UK PPV distribution. If Khan was taking all UK revenue they wouldn't give a monkeys.
Yeah.... by all accounts Mayweather made a bit of a blooper by letting Hatton keep all the British money in return for a greater cut of the American TV. Then again, Khan vs Mayweather wouldn't do a 1m+ buys - Khan just isn't that popular, and it's not a fight people are particularly interested in. Most people I know or speak to either want Floyd to get KTFO by Pacquiao or just **** off. There must have been some kind of concession on the Mayweather side because Hatton wrote in his book that he asked for X amount to face Floyd and got every penny...... plus the fight was made in a heartbeat. Compare that to the endless wrangling over splits from the Pac side - Arum is experienced in dealing with TV monies having brought through fighters from all across the world. Mayweather is a bit dim in that regard. Well, he's a bit dim full stop if we are being honest.

True enough. I think Mayweather would entertain fighting Amir. He would see him as an easy fight and (wrongly) think filling Wembley was a possibility.
Im not sure what youre saying here. Is it that Sky wont have any PPV worthy fighters after Haye retires, so cant afford to lose Khan? If that is what youre saying, then it doesnt really hold water. Khans always turned in poor to mediocre sales on SBO theyve not lost a bankable star. Lots of people know he is, but very few watch him fight when forced to pay. Hes a celebrity rather than a star. If that's not what youre saying then I just dont understand.
The trouble with boxing on sky is there are too many question marks with regards to how much they (SKY) can make. The only fighters who can earn them decent money are those at the top of the tree and the top fighters are fighting less frequently as the years go by (I remember Naz had at least 4 fights a year on sky up until the turn of the century) Football has a set format where they guarantee cash week in week out and injuries dont dictate whether or not the games still go ahead. (hell, even in tennis which is a one man per team sport like boxing still has their tournaments go ahead even in the event of an injury. Too many greedy promoters and too many politics imo.
Floyd looked to be scouting out Berto Saturday night. Ortiz might be a better fight for him to prepare for Pac....only I don't think he's ever going to entertain that matchup.
If Floyd faced Ortiz in a comeback before Pacquiao that be great. I don't think Mayweather vs Berto is possible as both with Haymon.
No bridges have been burnt. If Khan thinks he can get more money on SKY then he'll fight on it If SKY think they can make money off Khan, they'll use him. I've found myself wanting him to lose again, the arrogance is creeping back in and I wouldnt mind this as much if I rated Khan as a fighter. I think he's very over rated and Bradley will beat him....easily.
I agree. Floyd would have to work hard, but Ortiz is so open (particularly for the right) that Floyd could show his whole bag of tricks against a southpaw.....well, since his fight with Zab anyway ;-) I thought Floyd Vs Berto was touted for Dubai last year? Maybe he was there to show 'support'?
