Bob Arum was demanding judge switches, with 2 days notice, otherwise he'd pull Pacquiao Marquez had no choice but to accept Arum's favourite scorers One of the judges on the fight, had worked the last SEVEN Pavlik bouts. Probably pretty similar as 130. I think Manny was 146 in ring that night. Marquez was 141. Pacquiao was only 148 against Margarito. And Marquez boxes at about 144 at lightweight. You could look at it two ways. 1: Could help Pacquiao, as he wouldn't have to boil down as hard 2: Could help Marquez, as he's a lot bigger and stronger now, compared to the 130 bout
You know, someone will have to help me with the details. But I'm SURE Bob demanded one of the judges be pulled, 48 hours before the fight, and replaced with one of his more favoured guys. The guy (can't remember his name) ALWAYS appeared on Kelly Pavlik bouts, as he was known to score high output, aggressive guys, above average. You know, people say boxing isn't a corrupt sport. But you have promoters, allowed to remove judges, and replace them with their own personal choices! As I remember, Bob was going to refuse to put Pacquiao in, unless he got his way. Marquez had no choice but to accept it
I personally prefer pacquiao/morales 1 incredible fight and no its not because pac lost just a fantastic fight
It wasnt a robbery just a close fight that could go either way, similair to fights like maidana vs morales and williams vs martinez or mayweather vs castillo, sometimes you gotta be lucky in boxing. But this is definitely one of the best fights. Its not my favourite pacfight though.
Its one of those fights that even if you don't know the other guy, or even like one of the participants that you watch it with a lot of vigor and excitement.
Great fight, wanna see these 2 fight again. Doesn't matter which weigh its gonna be 147 or 140 as long as this too were the combatants. This two were completely different style which produce exciting fights. One is great counter puncher and the other were to be a great offensive machine. If Pac vs May doesn't happen, i have no problem as long as it's pac vs marquez
I would have agreed with you if it was a lopsided scoring but it was not, it was a split decision with close scores not more than 2 rounds(115-112) to any fighter.
