How many world champions will Britain have by the end of 2011

Just Burns and Cleverly I reckon.

This could be a Golden year or potentially a disastrous year.

Froch could definitely lose to Ward
Haye could definitely lose to Klitschko
Khan could definitely lose to Bradley

Don't think Macklin will win a world title.
Don't think Murray will win a world title.
Don't think Brook will win a world title (this year anyway).
Don't think Rhodes will win a world title.

The rest of the year is going to be great. Can't wait to see how these fights will unfold.

I think our best fighters might well be the ones without belts at the end of the year (not that the belts mean much anyway)

Even if Haye beats both Klitschkos he wants to retire at the end of the year so he might just about count. I'd say it's against the odds that he beats both of them anyway so it's probably doubtful.

Froch has it very tough if he's to win the super six. But I wouldn't be too quick to write him off against Ward should he make it to the final. That said, Ward has to be favourite right now. So again unlikely.

Ricky Burns. Hmm I went mental when he beat Martinez but that aside, I'm not a massive fan. He's a nice guy and an entertaining boxer but Warren really has dished up some mediocre challengers so far. I think he could beat some of the other top guys in the division if given the chance but will he get that chance? Probably not. So I think he'll still hold his title come 2012.

Cleverly - the Braehmer fight is a tough one but hopefully Nathan should be able to come through. I don't think he'll be rushed into many tough fights after that this year though so I think he'll be holding a belt at year's end.

Despite the criticism he gets on here (and from me...) I still think Khan should beat Bradley. And I'm a massive Tim Bradley fan. Khan should be too fast and strong for him and despite all this talk of a Pacquiao or Mayweather.. I don't see him risking anything too much to finish the year should he get past Bradley. But he may well move up to 147 and not technically hold a title.

The rest.. Macklin, Brook, Murray, Mitchell etc. I'm not sure on any of them personally. I'd much rather see Macklin v Barker in a mega fight THEN we can see who can go on to world level. Right now they've just been dodging each other for whatever reasons and haven't had too many tests. For me, Brook has the best chance of picking up a belt but welter is pretty strong. I don't know if he'll have the backing behind him to somehow hold a title like Berto did but I think he's got the most skill out of the rest.

So to sum up.. my prediction is that we'll have Khan, Burns and Cleverly as title holders.

 

Potentially we could end up with none.

Haye, Khan and Froch could easily lose their next fight (or in Froch's case the one after), Burns will lose when he steps up in class i fear, Macklin really isnt that good, nor are Murray and Brook, Cleverly is steping up in class in his next fight (will his chin hold?) and Rhodes is away from home and could be robbed of a decision

Equally, it could be our best year ever. Wlad has a weak chin and has been stopped before, Khan could easily be too quick for Bradley (plus with his new found headbutting skills he could cause a cut), Froch has the ability to beat anyone, Cleverly is boxing at home and is liable to get a decision in a close fight, Macklin (well u never no), and burns could cary on fighting Euro level guys and let a bigger fight build up.

I predict that Khan, Cleverly, burns and Rhodes will be world champs this time next year. Haye, unfortunately gets stopped, Froch loses to a close UD to Ward and Murray gets beat as does Macklin. OOh and Degale will probably win a world title as well (rate him very highly)

Of course, i'll be supporting our guys all the way tho, and we can all hope 2011 goes down as the Boxing year of the Brits :happy

 

Cleverly will win his title shot and Burns will continue to defend his against mediocre talent.

No one else this year - come 2012 Degale with Gavin following behind

 

Don't see Fwank letting DeGale fight for a World title this year.
