agreed. Also, Khan wont be the champ come July anyway. McCloskey should aim to fight someone like Peterson and maybe even build up to fighting someone like maidana. It would be in his interest to seek out an american promoter and work offf the back of the whole Irish-american boxing angle to get decent fights on decent undercards in the states.
I said from the start of this fight being announced McCloskey could never beat Khan. So was not supprised it finished so early! Should it be from a cut or ko. And the simple FACT McCloskley done **** all in that fight! does he deserve more ppv money from me? Ummmmm if you say yes do you feel the same about Audley and Haye? Im not saying McCloskey could never be a world champion but not against Khan! He needs to re-work his style and leave the dropping hands **** in the gym! He need to take a look at Ortiz a true southpaw warrior not some swinging looney! Sack the trainer and get in with some one like Roach etc and then become some thing special! At this stage he would loose big to any of the top boys at 140 for example Bradley,Alexander,Maidana etc Work on his D and he may stand a chance as he is very slippy! And spend more time with that conditioning coach as he still looked sloppy round the mid-section! If you want a laugh go on Paul's facebook page and read all the comments on how he was robbed hahahahahahahahahaha Ow and the BBBC have got involved now.
I like the way your basing your opinion on McCloskey entirely on what you saw for 6 rounds on Saturday, but you wouldn't dare draw the same conclusions about Amir khan based on the very same fight....
Ow yes I would! This thread is based on does McCloskey deserve a re-match not on how Khan fought over 6 rounds. The simple Fact is Paul was given the chance to fight a world champion for a career pay day to which he failed in a big way! I've seen alot of Paul's fight and that was not him with Khan on Saturday! He was scared to exchange! Why do you think i also said in the same post he could be a world champion!!!!! He just need to loose the domestic coach Khan got made to look sloppy in those 6 rounds! Was his mind else were? was he thinking about Bradley? Was he thinking about ppv issues? The simple fact is Khans last 2 fights were against great fighters and he did great! BUT for Paul and many of his fans to turn round and say he deserves a re-match is beyond me. If it was an Ortiz and Berto war then HELL YES we would all be screaming for it! but he only only landing 2 decend punches in 18 minutes of fighting.
If it was a fair and just world and this sport had some sort of controlling body worth its salt, then yes there would be a rematch as the fight was stopped prematurely(cant really be argued with). However, I understand there is no chance of him getting one and from Khans point of view I cant blame him. McCloskey was far from scared in there. I've never seen him looking so comfortable and non-plussed considering the hype around the event and the atmosphere in the MEN. He was simply trying to stay out of trouble for the first half of the fight, as was expected...
Leo, On what basis or grounds does McCloskey deserve a rematch? If it was even slightly competitive then Im sure we would all say there is a need for a rematch, McCloskey didnt win a single round, He didnt even through a combination ffs! :rofl He deserves a rematch because of the cut? No the WBA rules state it goes to the cards after 4 rounds for a decision, The fact that McCloskey was not able to implement his plan of loosing the first 11 rounds and then knocking out Khan in the last second of round 12 is McCloskey and his teams fault for having such a ******ed plan in the first place.
When stopping a fight due to a cut, the cut and the cut alone should be the only deciding factor, not what has gone on before that in fight. Now you answer me this, was the cut alone severe enough to warrant a stoppage? The answer is most definitely not. We have all seen numerous fights when fighters have half there faces still intact and the ref allows it to continue. who said anything about a last second KO in rd 12, the fight was prematurely stopped in round 6. This has been pointed out to you numerous times, it is worrying that you are failing to understand this.
I think you dont know the rules of boxing, Its a world title fight and the rules of the WBA state that after 4 rounds of boxing if the fight comes to a halt because of an accidental clash of heads it goes to the scorecards for a decision. I didnt make those rules, Khan didnt make those rules, They are the rules of the WBA. McCLoskey didnt win a single round and so lost the decision.
That is not what I said. Read my post very very carefully. I know the rules. It should never have gone to the scorecards, that is the point I am making. A lot of people are saying the ref was right to go to the scorecards as McCloskey was losing every round, that should be irrelevant when making a decision whether or not to go to the scorecards. That has nothing to do with knowing the rules of boxing regarding what happens after the ref has made the judgement that the fight can no longer continue due to an accidental cut. Again, if this is too difficult for your pea brain to understand, I feel sorry for you.
maxwell, you love khan, wouldn't you have loved to see him fight on another few rounds and possibly get the stoppage?
good point. A lot of Khan fans seemed happy that the fight was stopped. As a boxing fan, irrespective of who you support surely they can see it is better to let the fight continue. They cant even admit that!
I don't. I was hoping Khan would have had a good finish, especially since it's his last fight in the UK for the next four fights or so.
i hate how people are arguing about what could have or should have happened, I just wanted to see it happen, that doctor was a disgrace, what would he have done had he seen this cut? This content is protected
