I like Vitali, he's a great fighter, would trouble any HW in history, IMO...But, I can't get over his resume, I'm actually shocked I look at it as a whole...What gets me, he'll never fight the other best HW of his era, wlad, and lost to the previous best, the aging Lewis...Since he's never beaten the best of his own era much less any other, it doesn't make since to call him an ATG, and I think he should be considered as one... What tipped me over the edge was reading about 'Vaughn Bean' being overlooked as a great win for Vitali...Moorer & Holyfield were laughed at and derided for fighting this guy...I'm concerned I may be over-rating Vitali... Who is his biggest win? What evidence is there that he is great?
I like chris arreolla. He was #1 contender and it was in his home town. He was undefeated and HBO has his back of the way and he is a game opponent.
sam peter, destroying him after a 4 year long lay off capturing his old belt, actually his whole comeback is very impressive it sucks that we can never see him tested vs good opposition.
His biggest win might be Corrie Sanders. For me he is an ATG Together with Ruiz an Tua he is a hangover from a former (better) HW era It would be interesting to seen what he would have done if he wasn't out for 4 years
Probably Peter. Sanders' only claim to fame was KO'ing Wlad. While I think Vitaly would be a handful at any time in history, I do not consider him an ATG due to his resume. He will be in the hall of fame, but in a Scottie Pippen way, not a Michael Jordan way.
Cris is a good fighter who is just now taking his career seriously. In a few years, if Cris gets his act together and wins some big fights, this win looks a lot better. I do think a focused Arreola matches up favorably with Wlad.
Corrie Sanders was a trial horse who was expecting to retire with his last fight being wlad...Sanders looked to be there against Vitali just for the payday...
adamek(vitali will most likely win) and solis might turn out into way better wins in the long run if they are succesfull after the klitschko's retire. The only guy he could beat that would make him a atg now is the guy he can/will never fight. His resume will forever be brought up in the discussion but he has atg skills.
the way he dominates his opponents, rarely giving up a round and having the highest ko % in the sport must be worth something, especially since its not his fault the division sucks.
I agree with your line of thinking. He doesn't have a great signature win yet, and won't fight his brother. Therefore, his best hope of having that impressive victory is for one of his recent opponnents to be really successful.
His best wins are "Peter & Arreola." Peter was a solid favorite in 2008 and Arreola was a live underdog in 2009.... V.K. passed them tests with flying colors.... V.K. beats all the men he fights since 2003, and that's good enough for me since he fights the so-called current contenders, etc.... V.K. is an ATG...good:bbb SR.BILLARDO:yep
