As a American boxing fan, this last 1 1/2 has been kinda rough.

Well I dont believe it... If he didnt train hard for a title defense then he doesnt deserve to be a champion. Its probably just an excuse.. He wont admit that he just got beat by a better fighter.

Abner Mares was born in Mexico and Nonito in the phillipines... But these guys are americans and were raised here,,learned to fight here. I consider them American fighters. Just listen to one of their interviews and you would agree.

Just like Antonio Margarito is a Mexican fighter thru an thru.. The way he talks, style etc etc.. Techinchally hes American and was even born here.. But raised in Mexico.

So there you got 2 more americans . You didnt think about that are peaking right now.. Thats if Mares gets by Agbeko.

Put me down as someone who is 100% ok when a black fan or fighter supporters another/a black fighter. That just seems to be how human beings are wired.

The problem -- at least for me, and this is just my own personal opinion -- comes when, say, a black fight fan who supports mainly black fighters then turns around and calls a white fight fan who supports mainly white fighters a "racist."

That's hypocrisy. And, sadly, I think some might say that the hypothetical black fan's attitude is more socially acceptable than the hypothetical white fan's attitude. That is, I think, what gets people upset. It's not fair.

Me, personally, I like fighters of all backgrounds. I still tend to be a bit more partial to people "like" me, but I admire guys for what they do in the ring more than what color their skin is or what country they are from. I'm half-Mexican, half-white. And an American. But I'm a HUGE fan of: The Klitschkos; Tyson; Pacquiao; Hopkins; Holyfield; Duran; Hagler; Calzaghe; Azumah Nelson; Tszyu; Sergio Martinez; Pascal; etc.

You're either stupid or don't know me. I guess it doesn't really matter which. Probably young, as well.

Jackson (Julian Jackson, in kopejh's avatar) is another one of my favorites. He was fun to watch in his prime.

Really? Seems kind of odd, then, that the picture would be signed "Julian Jackson" on it and the guy sitting on the stool has "Jackson" on his trunks.

Hey -- it's your world, champ. Just keep typing those keys.

I can respect that man. I'm the same way. You can support fighters who are like you like, but don't bash other people for doing it :thumbsup
