Since Berto lossed, the Ring is probably gonna move Shane to #3 at welter. Do you think they will put their ring/lineal title on the line for for the Pac-Mosley fight (#1 Vs. #3)? If so and Manny wins, what does this do for his accomplishments in a historical sense?
I hope not. That would be one of the few instances that I don't agree with their declaration of a new lineal champ. I notice CBZ has the lineal title going back to Shane after the Margarito fight. As I understand it, they had a discussion about making Cotto/Marg for the lineal title at Ring, then decided against it? Or maybe had a vote and it didn't happen. Anyway, CBZ, I guess, figured Margo/Mosley was 1 & 2, which I don't know if I agree with. However, they haven't changed it for Mosley/Mayweather, which puzzles me a little bit. Perhaps because they haven't updated, perhaps because the WBA title wasn't on the line, however, that would defeat the whole purpose of disregarding those ridiculous ABC titles with their blown up sanctioning fees and sill rules. Eh. Hell if I know.
no way. mosley is coming off a loss to mayweather and the draw with mora. in some situations a vacant title can be filled by the #1 fighting the #3 fighter but i can almost guarantee it's not happening here.
I hope not, although Pac migh as well just b considered the WW champion for all intents and purposes.
Ortiz wasn't even in the top 10 at 147 (moving up from 140 where he also wasn't in the top 10), so I doubt he's gonna jump all the way to 3.
What if the Ring drops Mayweather due to inactivity (will be just over 1 year by the pac-mosley fight) and Pac and Shane end up 1 and 2?
I fail to see why people keep counting Mosley's 154-pound fight with Sergio the spoiler for his welterweight standing. As far as I'm concerned, he's still a top 5 welterweight.
Okay, word. It's been updated at Ring. It's now a non-issue. Ortiz is now above Mosley in the rankings. So, even if Mayweather is dropped from the list due to inactivity before the Pac/Mosley match, it's not for their title without a really bizarre twist.
^ Wow, Ortiz coming out of nowhere. I'm not mad at the Ring, cause I think Ortiz deserves to be there.
I'm happy for Vic. I knew he was better than Berto as a boxer, but I didn't think he had it in him, psychologically, to go through that kind of fight and win. He was poised. It was a good show.
And with that news, look for Victor to be Pac's next opponent while they wait for the Khan-Bradley winner. Provided they can't get the Mayweather fight done, of course.
I think Pac/Ortiz would be difficult to get made cause of the TR/GB divide. I think Mayweather/Ortiz would be more likely to happen if Floyd wanted it.
