Manny is the best in the world. He isn't at the point in his career where getting better is the focal point of his training. He has developed tools that work for him, and game plan that helps him utilize his talents to the best of his ability. He is all about fine tuning. The man is a Ferrari. His training appears to be centered around accuracy, and timing. Throwing punches at the right time, and landing them for optimum damage.

Fantasy match-ups are the territory of *****s and pachaters. pacquiao actually fights actively. of his list of fights, mosely is the only weak link and that's because floyd wouldn't come out of his hiding. now if you really think ortiz/bradley are better and tougher fighters than cotto/clottey/margo, i can't do anything for you, your newbie boxing knowledge will only improve with time lol

No it doesn't. Because I picked JMM over Pac in the second fight. And I was wrong or maybe I was just unlucky.

The problem isn't skill, JMM has or had better skills or at least the skills to trouble Pac. The problem is age and size, and strength at the higher weights.

It is true styles make fights. So in the following matchups JMM woudln't necessarily be expected to defeat these guys in the same way:

    JMM vs Clottey
    JMM vs Margo
    JMM vs Cotto

But here is the problem, JMM wouldn't defeat any of the above PERIOD! Styles at this point don't matter because he doesn't have the strength to compete at the weight.

And it wouldn't be any better at 140lb where Pac is head and shoulders above all the current titleholders and contenders.

What most ate arguing is that no huge improvements have been made.. if you want to see what huge improvements are watch pac Marquez 1Then 2... also it cannot be denied that his recent opposition complimented pacs style to look great.

As a ******* I kind of agree with this (Pac has always been elite, his impovements are exagerrated) but at the same time you cannot say Pac went 12 hard fought rounds with the boxing master JMM without learning something. Even if Pac DID NOT WANT to learn anything in that fight he would have learned anyways because fighting a guy as intelligent as that for 12 rounds automatically makes every other opponent that much dumber.

Also to say Pac got much much stronger just shows you only watched Pac's recent fights. Pound for pound Pac was a lot strogner at FW and especially JrFW than he is today

    Very wrong.....

The difference between Pac / JMM 1 & 2 was only that Pac got cut over his eye. They were both cut over the eye in the second.

Pacquiao admitted to studing a fighters bad habits and forming a fight plan in training only after the second Marquez fight. This was Pacquiao's boxing epiphany. The only fight plan Pacquiao had was following Freddy Roach's instructions in the corner. Pacquiao's has always had a right hook, but what Roach did for him was enable him to use it as a counter and as a timed punch.

There was basically no difference in Pacquiao ring generalship in his bouts with Marquez.

Marquez feeds off the counter punch, but he cannot handle the outside boxer. This is evedent in his loses to Chris John and Floyd Mayweather. Pacquiao has learned out to box on the outside with his rythm. He did not have this midset when he fought Marquez. A Pacquiao third bout with Marquez will only further expose this Marquez's weakness. Take a look at Marquez bouts and look at his compubox stats comparing outside boxers to fighters that like to apply pressure and can punch. You will discover his output is very limited with the outside style while with the swarmers and inside fighters his output is high.

this is very very wrong. Both Pac and Maquez significantly upped their game for the rematch. If you really pay attention you can see that the rematch is a much higher caliber fight than the first. Pacquiao was more measured in his attacks, Marquez was reacted much more quicky. Pacquiao actually landed many right hooks when JMM threw his right hands even if JMM's right hands were bigger shots. And JMM really was careful about his footwork and timing. Pac used his jab more effectively and moved his head better. Used his counters. JMM landed a lot of clean body shots while in the first fights he landed way too many low blows. The 2nd fight is just much, much better.

Pacquiao was stronger now compare before. His spar mates told he is much stronger now. Roach told before that when they are doing mitts it hurts him more now. He is just fighting bigger guys. Pacquiao takes punches well from the bigger guys, where before it seems punches from lesser punchers bother him.

pound for pound PAcquiao was stronger before than now. Anyone who adds weight will be stronger. Even Duran punched harder at 160 than he did at 135.

Marquez punches harder at 135 than he did at 126, but pound for pound he was a harder puncher at 126.
