Nobody was saying he would tire dramatically, but McCloskey probably fancied himself to be a bit fresher in the later rounds if he could get Khan to swing and miss for half the fight(this part of the plan seemed to be working). Also McCloskey has excellent stamina and in general can carry his power (which is slightly better than Khans) into the later rounds.

Also factor in the fact that I amongst others including team mcClosksey have a sneaking suspicion that Khan is starting to struggle to make weight (he will be fighting at 147 within 12-18 months) all adds up to a potentially tired fighter.

I think the game plan was not a bad one all things considered.. Yeah maybe he should of threw one or two more punches, particularly to khans body but he wasnt to know his fight was going to be halted after 6 rounds.

so what do you think there real plan was then?

Your telling me you expected his corner to send him out in round one all guns blazing to go toe to toe with a guy with faster hands and a better reach who has proven in his last few fights that he is a very fast starter.

As I said, maybe they would of wanted him to throw one or two more shots, but as far as i was concerned it seemed like a decent strategy that was working ok.

I never disputed what their plan was, I said it wasn't coming into effect.

Because the plan was not to do nothing for six rounds in a slow-paced fight and try to catch Khan with something big late on. Because, if you plan on tiring somebody out, which they said was the gameplan, just making the guy miss isn't enough, you have to hit him to the body and/or hit his arms/shoulders to wear him down gradually, not throw nothing and go for it late on. What transpired in the ring was not what they wanted, and dont let them make you think otherwise.

    Your opinion.

Personally I thought they were doing OK without them executing it to perfection as they would of ideally liked to get more shots off...

You can understand McCloskey's team feeling aggrieved that the fight was stopped in the matter that it was, but i still think they behaved undignified afterwards and gave Khan the license to act like an arrogant ****. In all likelihood it was going to get progressively worse for McCloskey with his cut as opposed to better

No, not my opinion, it's common boxing knowledge. If his plan was to do nothing, and not tire Khan out but hope to land something at some point, he might as well have swung for the fences early, when Khan is most vulnerable. The plan in itself was a good one, but it never came to fruition, because he was never tiring Khan out, which was the focal point of the fight-plan.

The fact McCloskeys team show no respect for Oscar during the press conference is disgusting and pathetic, they are almost blaming Oscar for the fight being stopped, how can it be his fault.

I think most would agree McCloskey was being dominated easily, Khan made a voluntary defence gave McCloskey a big pay day a crack at a world title and thats how they react.

I share their frustration but McCloskeys was getting beat anyway and a re-match would be pointless.

There were 30 seconds left to the round MClownsky could have pleaded with the doctor to let him finish the round so that his corner would have the chance to take care of the cut. But MClownsky didn't, he realized that quitting would be a face saving way out of a disgraceful performance so that he can claim foul.

They seem to forget that he agreed with the doctors decision to stop the fight. This is the biggest fight of his life and he fought disgracefully and he quit. Instead of disrespecting a legend like Oscar team McClownsky should realize that their fighter had just as much to do with the farce stoppage.

We dont, but he certainly didnt look like someone who was arguing with the ref / doctor he seemed quite happy to go with it without much of a challenge.

Shame cos he was putting up such a good fight!

Team McCloskey got what they deserved after the fight. They where acting like idiots throughout the buildup with those t-shirts and what not, and acting worse like bitter morons after it. No sympathy anymore for them. Some people here wont be happy until Khan bends over gives his belt to McCloskey for free, gives him all his earnings, and promises never to fight again.

With everyone (including the McCloskey fans) saying it was a bull**** fight, which it pretty much was, McClosckey was very lucky to get the shot in the first place, as was Khan vs Kotelnik... he didnt take his chance well enough. The fight shouldnt have ended as it did, but it did... simples. Its not the first farcical finish in boxing thats for sure, and it certainly wont be the last.

The promoter had three microphones in front of Khan's Team at the presser, but not one in front of McCloskey's team. They know they stunk the place out with that show and that gimme stoppage. Did you buy this ppv? How many of you lot paid for the ppv? It is difficult for you to have the same perspective if you paid money for that farce.
