Khan will need about an year to recuperate from the headbuts that Bradly will land on him and after that will move up in weight. Interesting match up but I think that Khan have all the tools to beat Judah after surviving a couple of shaky moments. I strongly favor Ortiz over Khan I think that he is all wrong for him ( even though Khan won in the amateurs)
Zab is on an entirely different level from McCloskey. He's obviously a very flawed fighter but if he can catch Khan with his left uppercut or his counter left straight he probably shakes Khan at the least. And Zab has the athleticism to hang with Khan, at least in the early going of the fight. It's a classic example of styles making fights. Khan matches up a lot better with Bradley because Bradley can't punch and is smaller, while Bradley would be an awful matchup for Zab due to his high workrate, toughness, and pressure. It doesn't mean that Khan can't beat Zab, it would simply be a dangerous fight to take.
You're damn right Zab is all wrong for him. Zab's defense has been looking incredibly sharp since he's had Pernell in his corner, and he's a guy with the athleticism and the base to use Whittaker's advice in his fights. Not to mention that he's arguablly the most explosive puncher at 140. If anyone has true KO power at this weight, it's Zab. McKloskey among others showed that there are flaws in Khan's style especially if you can neutralize his speed. I beleive with Judah's style predicated more around defense and counterpunching than ever before, he can take Khan into deep water and drown him or possibly knock him out early with sharp counterpunching. Zab is also a very difficult matchup for Bradley who is sometimes open for that left uppercut. Bradley may have to box more than fight against Zab because of the danger this punch presents.
That's the point I'm making. After 4 rounds, Zab's workrate drops significantly. I'd actually rather see Khan fight Zab next, and fight Bradley later this year. I cant see how Khan possibly losses so long as he survives the first third.
But if you've seen Zab's recent fights, he's been pacing himself, and fighting more defensively. I expect, expecially after seeing the trouble McKlosky gave Khan, that Zab would implement a simliar gameplan, except he would capitalize on Khan's mistakes with hard and fast counters. The only thing lacking with McKloskey was speed and power. Zab has those in abundance.
1) Khan wouldnt allow Judah to fight at Judah's pace. Khan would start fast (Maidana) and Zab would have to up his work rate to ensure his doesnt lose the early rounds (when he is most effective). 2) What trouble did he give Khan? He won every minute of their fight. Sure, he didnt hurt Paul, but he still won the first 6 rounds. Dont get me wrong, Zab is ALOT better than Dudey, and it is a tougher fight for Khan, but Zab is still a deeply flawed fighter. Khan, in his last few fights, has beaten Kotelnik, Paulie M, Maidana, and the Euro Champ Dudey. Zab, on the other hand, has beaten Matthysse in a close fight (I think Zab was pretty hurt at the end, but i might be thinking about something else. Was still a solid win mind) and Mabuza. These fighters dont match up to Khan's recent opponents IMO. Khan weathers an early storm to stop Zab late in an entertaining fight.
It's an interresting match up. Judah could outbox Khan and Khan could outwork Judah. Both guys could KO the other without a doubt as I don't think that Khan could handle Zab's uppercut and ... well... Zab could do the chicken dance.
zab judah having cool defense now doesnt mean he will pick up rounds, he was losing them vs mabuza as well because he didnt threw much back. Khan could win a ud on activity if judah doesnt stop him.
