In the most likely scenario Victor Ortiz (29-2-2, 22KOs) will have to face mandatory challenger Turkish KO artist Selcuk Aydin (21-0, 16KOs), who fights just as risky as Vic, so expect another knockdown festival when it happens.

Selcuk is a fairly limited but super aggressive puncher, can be outboxed but can also take your head off, no wonder Andre Berto avoided him for a long long time (good news he doesn't have to worry about him anymore), but the WBC is about to enforce the mandatory for Victor.

What makes his fight fascinating is that Aydin is a short powerfully built compact puncher and despite a good reach Ortiz fights at short range too, so it's an absolute guarantee that someone is going down, question is if there will be one knockdown or several. Of course some will point out that Selcuk got a gift in Turkey against Jo Jo Dan, but Ortiz fights nothing like the talented Romanian who after a shaky start dismantled Aydin't arsenal with excellent boxing skills.

No ladies and gents, this is gonna be a punch festival of two hard hitting but defensively imperfect KO artists, and while expect Ortiz to be the favorite, being the favorite doesn't mean a freaking thing inside the ring, I think we learnt that much in the past 2 weeks. Now all HBO has to do is to put a nice Summer WCB card together, and the fans will be in for another treat.

Aydin already said that Ortiz better not run from him like Berto did.

I think its time aydin has been waiting for this shot for a few years now, berto never gave it too him. The guy is no great boxer and has a tiny reach but he has power which makes the fight exciting. I think this would be a very good summer fight for ortiz as a tune up for a big one in november/december.

Exactly what i was thinking when i heard he had to defend. Aydin has some serious power. I think Ortiz needs to box an try to win a UD. However if he goes in there and Kos him i will be very impressed. Very risky.

Hopefully HBO is on board. I wonder if they will push for the Maidana rematch instead.

    I'm good either way

It wouldn't be competitive at all. Aydin is a Euro level fighter with a padded record. He'd get ko'd early.

He isn't a very good boxer, but he would have probably knocked out Berto...and will probably drop Ortiz at least once.

What I been thinking. I hope this fight happens, it would be another great win for vic, his next fight will determin if I am a fan or not, but the berto fight was impressive.
