Basically is it safe to say Lewis beat VK because he punched him TOO hard?

It was a decent shot. Not the cleanest or hardest that Lewis landed, but landed in the right spot/angle to cause a cut.

And then the follow-up shot while in the clinch helped open it more.

I was at the fight and you could hear and feel the bombs Lewis was pounding him with, I don't know how Vitali stayed on his feet....

I was rooting for Vitali and as much as I didn't want to admit this at the time, it was clear Lewis had turned the momentum and was well on his way to knocking him out cold...VK is lucky it was just his face hanging off because the bombs Lewis was consistently hitting him with looked like they would decapitate most people...

This fight said alot about just how good Lewis was...It said alot about VK too, but, he lost fair and square and his injuries probably saved him from a brutal KO loss...It was also clear that VK stood a decent chance of KO'ing Lewis if they fought again, although my money would be on Lewis...

Man that was a great fight...

 

Whether it was accidental or intentional does not matter since it only affects the number of points deducted. Vitali was ahead on the cards anyway.
