i JUST saw that this morning about a khan - ortiz match up people were doing that with nazim richardson too, i mean i really like naz as a trainer he's one of the best IMO and i'm a big fan of shane mosley but people were saying "the only reason mosley stands a chance against Floyd is because he has brother nazim in his corner" -that is an exact quote, cant remember who said it but i remembered it.
some guy in the general called joe goossen a **** trainer because soto karass lost to mike jones in the second fight.
I think Richardson is the best tactician there is. He had the gameplan for Mosley to knock Mayweather out but Shane was unable to implement any of it. Time that sloppy lead left hook and fire the right hand immediately over the top of it. Get Floyd jabbing rather than using the backhand counters to lead off. As good as Roach is I think he's been flattered by some of Pacquiao's recent results. It's only a matter of time before some of his other charges get stretched, including Khan, Chavez jr etc. Not sure why some fighters just head there in droves expecting to become world class in no time, there's plenty of other top class trainers kicking about, just a matter of finding them.
the other coaches just dont have the publicity as roach and the mayweathers do. ronnie shields IMO is up there witht he roaches and steward's, he has been training elite level fighters for years now yet you hardly hear about him. Robert and Eduardo Garcia were not even heard of until 24/7 and elie seckbach decided to go to their gym and they trained some very very good fighters such as joan guzman, brian viloria, fernando vargas etc.
Yeah, I've always liked Ronnie Shields, and Tommy Brooks too. Rob McCracken is the best British trainer for me, the proof will be in the pudding with the likes of Farnell, Gallagher and Nelson in the next few years. Lots of the British trainers though seem awful. No clear instructions, no gameplan other than ''throw lots of punches''. Even Enzo Calzaghe isn't the best, but at least he gets the fighters in top shape and motivates them. Dean Powell is quite a good cornerman, though I'm not keen when he starts talking over the trainer. He could quite easily train fighters himself better than some blokes who've been in the corner for British title fights.
He has done very well with Roach up to Saturday.Cant see any reason to change the trainer, its not as if he lost or was in any real danger of losing. It was just a poor fight. Id look at the management side, not the trainer if I were going to change anything.
Yeah but I was upset they had nothing about the new boxing gym. Apparently that new moon tosser and Jack are going to have a spar, what do you think would happen? Do you masturbate?
Are you serious. Im pretty sure that if Khan was being trained by Rubio when he fought Maidana he would have been knocked out. Roach has made a helluva difference in Khan and one off performence against a very awkward opponent wont set him back. Plus were the **** else is going to get the high quality sparring he gets in the Wild Card.
