After Wladimir beats Haye, he will unquestionably have a better legacy than vitali

Hard to say, if it would add to Wlads legacy. Because Haye's only had 2 title defences against medicre opponents, and plans to retire after this fight...

 

Wlad is already ahead of Vitali in any all-time ranking and barring Wlad going on some sort of losing streak he will end up that way when both are retired. Vitali's retirement hurt him and with him being closer to retirement than Wlad will make it very hard for Vitali to catch up.

If Wlad beats Haye that will obviously be a big win for Wlad but its hard to say how a win over Haye will be viewed years from now. Haye is a real threat, highly rated, belt holder, and former cruiserweight champ so there are some positives there. But Haye's heavyweight record isn't very deep. If Haye pulls in some wins after Wlad then his stock will stay high but if Haye does retire soon then Wlad's win over him(if he does beat him) will diminish over time. It will be similar to Lewis's win over Grant.

Actually, a win right now over Haye will probably become Wlad's signature win but if Haye doesn't do anything else in his career his stock will drop. Then he will be rated behind some of Wlad's other wins like Byrd, Chambers, and Chagaev because they are more proven than Haye is.

Haye's resume at Heavyweight is abysmal. I think his opponents at Heavyweight average 38 years old or something like that. This guy Haye has TALKED his way into a 50/50 split which he has no business getting. Haye is a great talker and promotion man no doubt. He is going to have to beat better fighters than Enzo Macaroni, Mormeck, Barrett, Ruiz, and Valuev and Audley Harrison to convince me he is anywhere near an A Class fighter.

Haye is a non issue. He won't even be top 5 on Wlad's resume.

 

Wlad will have a better legacy but lets be real imo Vitali is still the better of the Klit brothers cause he throws alot of punches, he use his height well and is much tougher. Why else Haye wanted to fight Wlad instead of Vitali? If Wlad is the biggest heavyweight fight then why not face Vitali first? I mean if Haye beats Vitali, his fight vs Wlad would be way more bigger but Haye don't want too cause he knows he has no chance vs Vitali then he does with Wlad.

 

The current heavyweight landscape has mirrored the early 20's imo. We've had the lineal champ (wlad/dempsey) not making the fight with the clear number 1 contender (vitali/wills). I feel this has to impact when considering any atg credentials. Wlad has the disadvantage of being a lot bigger than his opposition also so he doesn't get any leeway. However it's entirely fair to say that aside from vitali he has cleaned up the division, if he beats haye and then adamek(assuming he beats vitali) providing he then retires as champ I see no reason to have him outside of the top ten (just edging holyfield in my list) without that clearing up he won't get further than 15 imo.

 

Everyone knows vitali will never surpass wlad's legacy. Thing is Wlad still has a good 3-4 years left in him. Possibly going after Joe Louis's record for title defenses.

Wlad can move into the top 10 atg hw's if he continues on and racks say 20-30 title defenses.
