What exactly does that mean? Especially coming from elite fighters like Tarver (Hopkins fights), Mosely (Mayweather fight), Berto?

if you can't get yourself to relax you'll sap your energy faster. Mosley looked super twitchy in the Mayweather fight, even moreso than usual.

    Mosley's always twitchy. nothing unusual.

Those right hands had him extra twitchy.

You don't think he looked any twitchier than usual against Mayweather? I know twitchy is normal for him, just he looked a little moreso against Floyd.

exactly. Mosley was never the fluid composed type. being utterly outboxed by Mayweather made him tank it and just resort to going through the motions.

It means exactly what it sounds like. Anybody can have a bad day and in boxing there's no teammates to lean on and no next game. When you have a bad day, you're probably going to get your ass kicked.

it just means he felt tense and not relaxed which is always bad in boxing. you need to relax so your not tight otherwise you wont move as well. even in boxing training such as skipping you are taught to relax

If often really means "the other guy wouldn't let me get going".

they cant get timing/rhythm right to get off punches. instead they are hesitant and get tagged themselves. they're reflexes and quickness isn't there. usually this is said when an aging fighter is in the ring with a younger quicker opponent.

I tend to agree with this. Because the only reason they were tight is because their opponent wouldn't let them get going due to pressure or good defense.

I don't buy that a pro fighter gets tight after 20-30 pro fights. If they would have fought a C class fighter, I don't think they would have been tight.

Feeling tight or unable to get going is a direct relation to how their opponent fought against them, it's not a random independent thing.
