He is technically flawless, and my plan would be to poison his water bottle because it is otherwise impossible to beat him fair and square as a mere mortal.
He sucks in the pocket and in clinches. He can get frustrated easily when he's not connecting Jab is awful Throws a lot of shots off balance Can get reckless while throwing combinations Has a hard time defending against right crosses
he looks like he can be countered sometimes while hes off balence with the combos as marquez and morales showed but that was a few years ago
Too brave for his own good. Technical flaws may be abundant, but very effective with his natural talents.
Stance is all wrong at close quarters over-reliance on footspeed for defense drops left hand often when using the right jab lunges in too much with str8 left leaving himself counterable claps hands together after getting hit footwork isn't so great when he's on his bicycle
makes you wonder why with all those flaws easily detected, even the most experienced trainers find it hard to neutralize.
i think if someone refuses to engage him and is constantly moving against him they could frustrate him and possibly bore him(look at the last few rounds against cotto).
1. Opens himself up to the jab when a southpaw really shouldn't be susceptible to an orthodox fighter's jab. Both Erik and JMM used their jab to control Manny's aggression. Even a very slow Margo landed his jab to set up his other punches. 2. If you have the ability to push him back, his ability to fight off of the back foot is extremely poor. Morales when he was not countering or was following up one of his counters would always look to push Manny back. Manny does not utilize proper footwork when forced back. JMM tried to do this as well but he had to rely on counters more because he doesn't have Morales's chin. Margo tried to do this but his punches and pressure came to slow to be very effective. 3. When you land punches on Manny and get him to go defensive, he chooses to go into a high guard as opposed to just using his legs to get away or upper body movement. Against punchers who can hurt him this tactic may come back to haunt him. 4. For a guy as fast as Manny, he can be drawn into exchanges, as opposed to him remaining disciplined and utilizing his speed of foot and hand to simply walk his opponent into counters. This again highlights his lack of proper foot work off the back foot. 5. Manny relies far too much on volume. What happens the first time Manny runs into a guy who he can't afford to throw lots of punches at, but at the same time doesn't have the power to get a knock down or he can't hit often enough or clean enough to get a knock down? In other words, if Manny has to win on points without scoring a knock down can he win a boxing match? 6. Manny is average at best on the inside. He squares up giving his opponent his entire body to hit. He swings wide when he fights on the inside and he swings for the fences with his chin up and exposed. So far so good but what happens when he fights a big enough puncher who can swing with him? Ultimately in order to take advantage of Manny's physical limitations, tactical openings, and boxing flaws, you need to possess the physical tools, technique/style, and confidence to execute in the fight. Manny has flaws the question is who can take advantage of them before Manny takes advantage of theirs?
styles and athleticism Roy Jones had way more tech flaws than emmanuel, but his godly athleticism, emmanuel's athleticism isn't on the same level, made him untouchable. Then styles because we know emmanuel doesn't like counter-punchers who have well timed right hands. None of his recent opposition has had a great right hand. Mosley will be the first in a long while, but he's not a CP. We'll see how much emmanuel's tech flaws come into play if he decides to fight on when he's slower and older.
Mostly just stlye. If Manny had the style and temperament of a boxer/counter puncher he wouldn't get hit that much. Well at least if he were any good at it. His temperament has dictated his style, which has dictated his defensive liabilities. But that doesn't mean he can be beat easily. Also your incorrect. Shane is a very good counter puncher. Just ask Freddie. Most of Shane's early career he was thought of as a counter puncher because people thought that pressuring him was the key to defeating him.
Anyone not willing to take a risk is going to run over by Manny. JMM is one of the most skilled fighters of our generation and he is an AGGRESSIVE counterpunher. That's why he had some success in the past. Anyone who throws 1 punch at a time won't deter Manny. The current Pac doesn't have as many flaws as the one from a few years ago. He has better balance and his style has gotten a bit more compact. I don't know where people get the idea that he's easily countered...he is actually one of the hardest fighters to counter in boxing. He can throw like 5-6 punches in 1 second...too fast for most people to react. His biggest flaw is probably his defense when he's standing still where he squares up. Everything else has been improved.
