I'm not sure Calzaghe could do what Hopkins did, they're two very different kinds of fighters. I'm not suggesting for one minute that Calzaghe would have lost, but he liked a tear up much more than the cagey Hopkins and ate right hands for breakfast. I'd say a 117-110 with Calzaghe having to get off the canvas early. Hopkins could discourage Pavlik too with his harder shots, by the end Calzaghe couldn't knock the skin off a rice pudding unless it was to the body.
Calzaghe would have easily beaten Pavlik and Warren wanted it big time. Part of the reason why they made Pavlik-Lockett but Joe left Frank and went for RJJ atsch Then Hopkins schooled Pavlik and got all the glory. I remember the Pavlik huggers on here were adamant he'd stop Joe.
Probably something to do with the fact that the great King Khan is such a man of the people and great to his fans, he'll won't often do interviews like this.
I wonder if we get an hour of radio silence from McCloskey then complaints afterwards that he was cut off too soon just as he was preparing to say something. That would be some great defensive radio.
Buncey:- Love the show and all the time trying to promote it amoungst friends. It would be really good if you start giving your own opinions though! Less interviews and more time telling us what you think in your hard hitting style. You are a totally different animal on the Willie Hills podcast or the old boxing hour. I hope the BBC are not censoring you or you are becoming timid.... Can't wait to hear tonight either way.
I'm interested to hear what McCloskey has to say with a few days to think and rewatch the fight. Doubt it'll be anything much different though. He needs to forget about a Khan rematch in the near future and look to fighting his way up to world level if he feels he belongs there :rofl
