Is this at least the second best era ever for the HW division?

Truth is somewhere in the middle...it definitely isn't the best, but it isn't the worst either.

this is an era of fat heavyweights, unathletic and lets not even talk about the skills. If not for european heavies who fortunately knew how to stay away from fastfood ****, this heavytweight division would be an utter embarassment, even worse than the era when braddock became champ

This is wrong though, there is still easily 10 elite boxers in this era who are in perfect shape. Just because the Anglosphere dominance has ended it's totally unfair to dismiss this era.

    Wlad
    Vitali
    Haye
    Adamek
    Povetkin
    Helenius
    Boytsov
    Thompson
    Chagaev

Yeah it is hard to. But the excitement of a young Mike Tyson streamrolling down his opponents during the late 80's was far more entertaining than anything we have seen from this era.

It's a similar era as the early-to-mid 50s, and the early 80s. Both eras were poor with a fighter or two that were above it and formerly superb fighters on the way down.

Actually, count the WHOLE of the 1940s in that bracket too. The 40s was a weak era - fullstop. The 1930s had no-one spectacular, but a lot of depth, so I rate that era as superior.

IMO the worst era of boxing (in the 20th century) was probably the second half of the 1910s.

This era, it's not great but it's not as terrible as a lot of people say.

In my opinion Tyson prime is more entertaining than anything in boxing history. But then again comes the quality of opponents and the 'fear factor' that Tyson caused made possibly good fights one sided imo.

Hell no HW are by far the worse, boring, and changing division in all of boxing maybe of all time right now honestly

This is partially superb and partially awful in just about equal measures.

    Mike Tyson
    Larry Holmes
    Michael Spinks
    Tim Witherspoon
    Pinklon Thomas
    James Smith
    Frank Bruno
    Mike Weaver
    Tony Tucker
    Razor Ruddock

Not great by any means but better than the heavyweights now.

In my most unbiased opinion, Michael Spinks would beat both Adamek and Haye.

Ya, I think its pretty good, if the athletes are less skilled they are also bigger and stronger.

I also would not mind hearing Supreme Allah's take on the boxing scene
