Andre Ward has been entered into the Ring magazine top 10 P4P ratings at #10. This appears very bias to me as Ward only has one good win over an unwell Kessler, who was never in The Ring top 10 P4P ratings to my knowledge. Ward hasnt got as good an overall SMW resume as Bute, but The Ring put Ward above Bute after beating Bika a fighter that Bute beat years previously.
Ward hasnt even beaten anyone since Bika yet all of a sudden he is put in the P4P ratings. Why wasnt Ward put in after his win over Bika, if thats what the Ring think is worthy, rather than just all of a sudden over 4 months after his last fight?

Froch should be rated below Ward in the SMW ratings as he lost to Kessler but Froch has never been seen in the P4P ratings for his wins over Pascal, Taylor and Dirrell.

Kessler the 2 time WBC & 2 time WBA champ with the best active SMW resume was not seen in the P4P ratings

V Klitschko is more deserving in the ratings in my opinion.

D Haye won WBC WBA WBO Ring CW titles and the WBA HW title with many away wins in around 24 fights yet is not in the P4P ratings

Z Erdei an undefeated 2 weight world champ with a better resume is not considered in the P4P ratings

Does this appear bias to anyone?

I don't always agree with you, but putting Ward in the top 10 is just silly. Completely biased. If Ward was Norwegian, he'd be circling the top 30. Look at Steve Cunningham - Nowhere near the top 20 in the Ring's 100, but to any fan with a brain, he is borderline top 10/15. If a fighter is not getting exposure in America, they are dead to these guys.

Skill-wise Ward is an obvious P4Pler but resume-wise not so I tend to agree with you. I doesn't make sense putting him #9. How did he overtake Segura who recently stopped Calderon even more impressively than the first time anyway?

They've always favoured American fighters massively.

Lucian Bute must be the most undeserving top10 P4P ever.

I can't remember anyone worse holding a spot on the list than him, to be honest.

How the hell does Bute have a better resume than Ward?? I like Bute, but Maghee, Brinkley, a post Ward Miranda, William Joppy, and F. Zuniga are not killers by any means.

Meanwhile, Ward beat Kessler (in a fight where he was the underdog), beat Allan Green (whom many on here said would KO Ward), made Dirrell run away, and beat Bika in a tough fight.

If you want to say are even the resume front, thats fine. But to suggest Bute has a "far better" resume is absurd.

It is an American magazine for American readers covering the American market, some bias is inevitable, even in the world rankings. We are much bigger boxing fanboys than most writers and just a very few of them have the time and (re)sources to get all the Roman Gonzalez, Pongsaklek and Nishioka stuff, what they can do is covering Ward at ringside and watch him dismantling Kessler in dominating fashion, that must've been impressive up close.

Sometimes they throw a bone to the international media like Wonjongkam who almost lost to a nobody in his last defense and in April 2011 has no place in the 10 let alone at 6, and other times they look stupid as you can almost feel they wanna show how independent they are from Golden Boy, like not ranking Hopkins P4P "just because he's fights under Oscar" when he's EASILY top5, Winky, Tarver, close L to Calzaghe, Pavlik, Roy and arguably Pascal (coming off W/P4P Dawson), you can hardly show a better run in boxing today. But a P4P list will never be objective because the whole idea to rank fighters regardless of divisionsis somewhat subjective.

    I stand corrected.

I thought I read the other day he was at #9.
