First off, JuanMa is Puerto Rican. Ricans are American citizens, but they still have their own national anthem.

And lastly, Berto was "exposed" by a fellow American, Ortiz.

That's dumb as hell. Yes, technically Puerto Rico is a territory of the US. But no they are not all citizens, they can apply for it if they want though. They have a completely different culture, you cant lump them together.

Whats with the exposed **** ? Ali was supposed to be the big thing until he lost but he ended up the greatest heavyweight... One loss does not end a career.

Can a fighter not just lose? Was Ali exposed when he lost. You really need to cut this **** out. It's pathetic and cringeworthy.

all the hype surrounding these fighters. Before alexander and berto lost, both were supposedly being talk as the man to beat. I'm a fan of lopez but he was being considered as the best featherweight then boooom he lost to salido.

Who said Berto was "the man to beat" ever? He has never been the best guy in his own division. This is a poorly thought out thread.

...so was Alexander. They don't come any more American than Desert Storm. :deal

Neither Berto nor Alexander were ever "supposed to be the next big thing". Both had large fanbases, and equally large contingents of doubters (such as myself...and you can go right ahead and search my post history to corroborate that).

The only real surprise was Lopez...and even that was foreshadowed in some of his earlier fights and many people here cautioned in the weeks leading up that Salido could be too strong and too tough.

Also Berto was raised in the US but fought on the Hatian teamin the world Games I believe. So he may not be considered 100% of American decent! I think it's either **** or a Hayefaker that's posting this thread!
