I don't even try with people that don't know the value of the double jab. It's not like Jack is the ONLY coach I've heard it from in the corner.
Here's a question for ya. How many years has it been since Pavlik won a fight against a quality opponent?
I like the snap on his punches, but his movement is slow. I wonder if they worked on foot speed. He looked like a heavyweight in there.
One of the larger ironies came in the middle rounds of the Martinez fight. Leow instructed Pavlik to use the 3-2, and the left hook, and rough Martinez up on the inside. Martinez's corner was in a state of panic, and Sergio's trainer was screaming at him about doubling the jab!
I'll be honest with ya here. I'm sometimes amazed by what people DO NOT SEE in a boxing match. The real reason Leow is constantly on KP's ass about the double jab is that kelly gets really stupid sometimes and falls into throwing singles when he should be throwing doubles. Almost every time he does that he starts eating right hand counters like a little kid eating Skittles!
I think Kelly told jsimps that he got lazy with a punch which is what led to the counter that started his trouble in the Martinez fight. Maybe jsimps will provide some detail, providing I'm remembering right.
there was a lot of chatter on here about kelly wanting to stop the fight and jack not wanting to do it. jsimps said that kelly was simply telling him that (he couldnt see obviously) but that his legs were gone. simps said that kelly was saying the same thing in the zuniga fight. for what its worth.... i expect a battle ready kelly in this fight and from here on out
I'm hoping, and quite frankly expecting, that Kelly will be better fighting at a higher weight. I've said for a long time that I think all the cutting was making for sub par performances (in general). Is Pac roiding or simply filling out to his natural weight and looking stronger? Victor Ortiz looked good going up and he was a 4/1 dog and I think Berto tagged him harder than Maidanna did.
Rounds 1-6 Great job Kelly, just double that jab a little more Rounds 7-10 We're in trouble now Kelly, you really need to double that jab. Rounds 11 and 12 DOUBLE THE ****ING JAB. Not the best advice in crisis situations imo.
If you haven't bothered to read the Hauser article at seconds out by now I doubt you ever will. I consider will full ignorance the same thing as just plain being stupid.
