Another name not mentioned is Bazooka Limon. Just how many southpaw sluggers are there anyway? They are almost exclusively boxers. And even fewer southpaw brawlers have a long career.

Saad Muhammad deserves mention also for that stretch he had of back and forth fights. He did have the ability to box but that was discarded early on and pretty much everything after 78 was toe to toe.

Tyson's fights were always like nothing else for me - that being the anticipation and the electricity in the air - I'd dare say Jack Dempsey's had that same kind of electricity around them too - but actual exciting fights as in knockdown drag out this way and that fights - then certainly Gatti is up there - and Nigel Benn's fights I always used to dig too

Great call. Game as a badger and as tough as they come.

Seen him on the SRR marathon on ESPN and he gave me the impression he didnt give a **** about SRRs reputation, nor anyone else for that matter. Loved his "..9 of them are wrong..." quote.

Almost all of Benitez's fights were astounding to me.

i think holyfield takes this. he would either get sucked into wars with inferior fighters, or raise his level to compete with the very best.

    How about Gatti?

Good back and forth action in these fights-

    Tracy Patterson W12 x2, Wilson Rodriguez KO6, Calvin Grove KO7, Gabriel Ruelas KO5, Angel Manfredy LKOby8, Ivan Robinson L10 x2, Micky Ward L10 and W10 x2 -11 fights

After Robinson he had 4 one sided wins vs. mid level fighters, 3 by way of KO... Reyes Munoz KO1, Joey Gamache KO2, Eric Jakubowski KO2, and Joe Hutchinson W10 (won every round). His win over T. Millett KO4 was also easy. -5

After Ward he had easy wins over the likes of G. Branco W12, L. Dorin KO2, Leija KO5, and T. Damgaard KO11. -4

20 Gatti fights that are worth watching. He doesn't win them all (17-3) but he gets some licks in... in all of them.

I can't think of one PBF fight that I want to watch again.

Anybody who went to (ME) Frank "The Animal" Fletcher's fights or saw him on NBC will EVER forget them. It still brings me great joy to bring out his career pack, bust open an Olympia and let the mayhem commence. This was one badass dude who lived for nothing else in his career than to stomp out to th center of the ring and throw down. From the first time I saw him live verses Jerome "Silky" Jackson throught the last live one I went to vs. Scypion ( I still can't believe he lost to him), I saw all Fletcher's fights live in person (also went to all Hamsho A.C. fights, and of course the Spectrum wars in the 70's w/ Bad Bennie, Franklin, Hart, etc. Man what a great time in my life. I got to see Braxton in his 80-82 A.C. fights. Philly and A.C had great fights all the time. Philly from early 70-about 82 and A.C from 1979-about mid 1983 for me). Even the Robert Davis fight in '81. My favorite was the Singletary fight on Aug. 31, 81. I can't believe it has been 30 years, but I still get chills watching the action. ANIMAL, ANIMAL, ANIMAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:beer:beer:beer:beer:beer:beerTonight, GO Flyers! I'll be wearing my Van Impe jersey and hoping for a victory.

Recently Rogers Mtagwa was a crowd pleaser despite not being a top fighter, and almost pulled off a monumental upset against JuanMa Lopez. He couldn't box at all, just a very determined and well-conditioned brawler.
