ESPN2 FNF: Breidis Prescott vs. Bayan Jargal RBR

I told y'all Prescsott wasn't unskilled, and he's shown some good improvements. Not an easy fight for Khan in a rematch all things considered.

I don't think Prescott is going very far, so no change in opinion on him from me for tonight.

 

How did Prescott look?

(I very much doubt he deserves a rematch with Khan, no matter what his performance was like).

 

He didn't look sharp to me at all. Still needs to tighten his technique up in every way.

No improvement then? Which also probably produces a negative affect on people clambering for a Khan rematch.

Which also makes a great deal of sense, 'the guy who knocked the other guy out, begging for a rematch with the guy who he knocked out already...'

 

That mongolian kid was one tough son of a *****. There was one round where Prescott landed 62% and the kid never flinched.

 

I don't see how someone doesn't see improvements. He's not suddenly Pernell Whitaker but he definitely has a more consistent jab, has good punch variation with decent technique, decent defensive head movement, and a tight stance. His problems are mainly dropping one hand when throwing with the other or not bringing them straight back, but its much better than it used to be. His jab is a real piston, and he can time his right hand fairly well; his ability to loop it at the right angle is a good tool in my opinion. Hits to the body and head, uses his reach, sets up combinations and big right hands. Looks like a good fighter to me.

If he were to fight Khan, it wouldn't be so easy if he fights like he did against McCloskey. Rushing in and dropping your hands and giving up your reach are bad habits that seem to have caught up with or creeped into Khan's style, and he wouldn't be able to dominate Prescott with his reach. Since he's basically a strict outside-only fighter, he'd have a tough time being effective without risking himself. Khan's speed and sharp left hook would be a great advantage against Prescott, but it would be a real risk. I hope Prescott can get some good names and make himself more worthy of a rematch.

 

Well how about a Prescott vs McCloskey? And why aren't all these other guys in the mix with the top dogs? Kotelnik (or however you spell his name) beat Maidana and lost a close fight with Khan and Alexander yet no seems to mention them in the mix with the rest of the 140lbs.

 

Saw the fight and was impressed with Presscot in the early rounds. He has defense, and good skills and man a lot of power. Khan should definitely steer free from this guy or the same outcome will come.

He does fade in the later rounds, but still carries power and is not as relentless then the early rounds.. and picks his shots.

Khan Kryptonite he is not a slow unskilled maidana thats for sure.
