Disagree with point one, just look at what Hopkins has done in his later years, that's just one example.
Point 2 depends on the manner or losses.
Point 3 I agree with and ties in with point 2.

If the sport was governed better the approx stat of 15-20% suffering with pugilistic dementia would be reduced dramatically.

You should be able to do as you please, if you want to fight, then fight, if I want to trade some longevity for the glory and cash then I should be allowed to.

There are millions scratching a soul-destroying living in menial jobs.. should they be prevented from doing so to save their self respect?

So Hopkins, Martinez, Vitaly, and Glen Johnson should all be forced out of the game? Is that what you're saying?

My friend doesn't have go on but his blog entry from the other day sums up why the 1st point is garbage. The 2nd point is also silly as a host of current W.C.'s are in double figures of losses.

All fighters should have to take mandatory MRIs annually.

Why not? There are far worse fighters out there.

Holly almost won world title just a couple of years ago

All fighters should be assessed on an individual basis. Compare a 29 year old Morales vs a 45 year old Hopkins for instance.

Tests should be stricter and tougher. Pass them all and you fight another fight. You fail them and you can't fight.

On a side note: There should be a pension-based financial plan for retired boxers IMO.

How about 40? 35 is a good age for most, but not for some.

Fail. People should be able to do what they want.

Again we have a world champion who is 40, one who will be in a few months and a guy who might be a champion aged 46 in just 4 weeks!

    Every fighter is different.

Some guys take more punishment than others, or just happen to decline faster. Some fighters start earlier than others.

B-Hop had his best win at age 36 and notable wins in his 40s. Meldrick Taylor was a shot fighter at 26. Wilfred Benitez was shot in his mid 20s. Archie Moore had notable wins in his 40s.

well then we must just outright ban the following

    car racing

    motorcycle racing
    horse riding
and a whole heap of other sports that give far more injury and chance of death than pro boxing

    ******ed thread

Your argument makes no sense what so ever. Wifredo Benitez was shot to **** at 24, where as Archie Moore had 23 loses and was still very competitive .

I agree with the general message in this thread.

Those rules are a bit arguable and shouldn't be executed totally strictly though. It all depends on an individual.

Jermain Taylor shouldn't probably go out of retirement even though he's still fairly young.

    Hopkins.. Well, you know..
