Botha gonna struggle I think... Looked very out of shape at the announcement (I was there) but he talks a good game and Flo says he is ready for the challenge.....
I have heard this fight may not go ahead because the BSA have not been pre warned about the fight. I hope this is not the case. Sounds like a good card! Botha really needs to get himself in shape because this could be a long scrap.
I think Botha has about two or three rounds to make an impact otherwise Flo is gonna be all over him for the rest due to superior fitness....
I thought this vid is perfect for the thread, good stuff: [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sNjVrgoLp_c[/ame]
Botha talking tough! This is what i found on the Golden Gloves website. But is he taking Simba too lightly? With six weeks to go until Power and Pride, heavyweight Fransie Botha has advised Flo Simba and trainer Harold Volbrecht to take the Easter weekend off “to really think about what they have got themselves into” by agreeing to the fight. Botha, never backward in coming forward, claims that Simba will have a fitful lead-in to the bout and will be a wreck by the time they are due to fight at Emperors Palace on June 4. “I am so used to big fights that it all comes naturally to me. The crowds, the big fight temperament . . . I’m used to that,” said the White Buffalo, who has headlined in places like Las Vegas, New York and London. “Simba is a novice who won’t be sleeping well in the next few weeks. If you believe that I approach a fight like this half-heartedly, think again. Simba’s too soft for me. I trained for years with big, tough Americans where every sparring session was a fight for supremacy. You think a 10-fight novice is just going to walk all over me? I’ll burn him out in five rounds.” Fighting talk from the big man, although he is unlikely to have fought anyone with handspeed quite as fast as Simba. Even Mike Tyson, whom Botha fought in 1999, wasn’t as quick, not least because he was past his prime and recently out of prison. Simba, though, refused to be drawn into badmouthing Botha, suffice to say that he is confident he and Volbrecht will devise a good plan. “I do my talking in the ring. I’ve never seen the White Buffalo fight, but he’s obviously got good skills and is a big guy. I’m here to do a job and I won’t let him stand in my way.”
Haha, just doing my monthly search for new Botha vids on youtube and it was right there. Nice job finding the Botha quotes btw. He sounds serious, but we will know how serious at the weigh in. I highly doubt that Simba has never seen a Botha fight as he claims, but if this is true, he better get his hands on some tapes quick because he has no clue what he is getting himself into!!
OMW can the hype not stop? Flo's handspeed is nottin special...this is why I can't w8 for this hypejob to be exposed!!!!
Will you have your money on Botha then? Botha has not won by KO for many a year now. Could this be the one?
What I thought South Africa couldnt have amatuers because of the apartheight. You trying to tell me Corey Sanders beat Both 4 times before!
Another snippet i found this sounds like Botha is taking this fight to get his licence renewed and to keep it going. I guess he thinks he is deffo going to win this. I think i might put a few quid on Botha for the KO! Former three-time world heavyweight title challenger Francois “The White Buffalo” Botha (47-5-3, 28 KO’s) has been granted a boxing license to face 10-0 fellow-countryman Flo “The Demolition Man” Simba at the Emperor’s Palace in South Africa this summer. The 42 year-old was due to face England’s Tyson Fury last week on the undercard of Amir Khan’s WBA 140lb title defence against Paul McCloskey only to be rejected as an opponent by the British Board of Boxing Control in February and seems to have had better luck with the South African equivalent. His opponent on June 4th will be unbeaten Congo-born Flo Simba, 21, who has blasted his way through his first ten opponents, with nine knockouts in just over two-years and built up a cult following in his adopted country. South Africa's number one ranked heavyweight goes into the bout a heavy favourite against the wiley veteran. US-based Botha’s last outing was against four-time heavyweight champion Evander Holyfield a year ago at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas, where he was stopped in eight rounds handing Holyfield, 48, the lowly-regarded WBF heavyweight title. He now returns for his 57th professional contest and has shown no signs of slowing down. Botha had five years out of the fight game between 2002 and 2007 and has since returned with three wins in his five contests. The Witbank-born fighter will be hoping to put on a good performance against the youngster, to cement his license for another outing.
Heavyweight prospect Flo Simba is an odds-on favourite to beat Francois Botha when the two fight on the Power and Pride bill at Emperors Palace on June 4. According to odds supplied by Betting World, who will be represented at the tournament, Simba is at 8/10 for the win, while Botha, a former world champion, is at 11/10. Snippet from golden gloves site
