Did anybody watch this documentary? I watched it last night on Netflix and I thought the movie was rather interesting. The only thing I did like was how they over did the sleeping pill thing at the end. They made it seem like he only lost only because of the meds. ESPN: J.C. Chavez Directed by actor Diego Luna (Y Tu Mamá También, The Terminal), this fascinating documentary chronicles the life and times of the legendary boxer Julio Cesar Chavez, one of the most celebrated fighters of all time. With a career that saw him defeat a collection of world champions, including Hector "Macho" Camacho, Jose Luis Ramirez and several others, Chavez finished his reign boasting 108 wins out of 116 fights, 87 of which were won by KO.
Too many bums in his record, nothing big if you pick up the record-boosting opponents. He was very good but not legendary, he isn't anywhere near top 20 of all times due to too many bums.
say what you want. however, he defended his title more than any other boxer including louis and ali. did you see the first fight with mayweather? He tore his **** apart in two rounds.
Larry Holmes beat a lot of guys who weren't too special. Being as consistent as fighters like Chavez and Holmes are reduces the impact of there wins to some people. Chavez was so systematic and repetitive in his wins- he truly was a special fighter. Edwin Rosario would only struggle to beat Marquez today he would destroy evreyone else. That was just one person Chavez not just beat but destroyed.
haha cosign that guy probably thinks floyd mayweather record is better and that hes is greater... cause "mayweather undefeated" edwin rosario, jose luis ramierez, meldrick taylor, roger mayweather, juan laporte, ruben castillo, rocky lockridge, greg haugen, tony lopez, hector camacho... all current or recently former WORLD champs with one sided wins over except taylor..very close to losing that and remember when julio cesar chavez really sucked...i think he was 89-0 food for thought Floyd Mayweather 41-0 Chavez This content is protected WORLD TITLE FIGHTS ALONE
Actually not, I rate Mayweather lower than him, still not even top 50. Mayweather lacks some big wins but he surely beats Chavez prime for prime.
Im guessing both. Chavez is the most underrated fighter on ESB (Whitaker, Duran & Pac have most fanboys - for the record )
Chavez beats both Mayweather & Pacquiao anywhere from 130-140 lbs (especially at 135) Obviously you have not seen enough Chavez fights if you are using words like `SURELY beats Chavez prime for prime`
