Marquez wants Manny Pacquiao to meet him at 143 pounds for 'Trilogy' fight

What makes the 17 weight classes any less arbitrary? NOTHING. If there is no trinket on the line then any weight the fighters agree on to make a fair fight is good.

 

I disagree with the notion that fight-night weights = weigh-in weights. Coming it at an unchanging 143 versus re-hydrating to that weight are two different things. Pac could easily make 140 and come in without maximizing a weight advantage.

One thing that concerns me is the fact that Marquez said "I'm going to weigh whatever he weighs." If he comes in without draining, that's fine. But if he comes in trying to make that weight with muscle like he did against Mayweather, I don't think it will help him.

I think he's had time since the Mayweather fight to grow a bit into a higher weight, and hopefully he won't condition himself the wrong way with unnecessary muscle throwing off his speed and timing. If he says he feels good, then I suppose its good enough.

im talkin about te way in. whatever he rehydrates to is fine. he looked terrible at 144. i think if he was 138 he can hydrate up a few pounds makinh it more competative. atleast imo

140/147 seems fine. They'll come to the ring at 144-148 though.
