Come one Classic... lets end this (heated) debate... Holyfield - Lewis?

Well it's kind of pointless to start a thread encouraging debate and then resorting to name calling when there's a difference of opinion.

No. He also has Liston, Frazier and Norton. Holyfield doesnt.

 

Lennox was at the top for barely a decade from Tucker in 1993 to Vitali in 2003. Holyfield beat Qawi over the championship distance in 1986, was flagrantly robbed by a decision in favor of Valuev over 22 years later, and is still competing, very possibly on his way to a rare 30 year career. Lennox was an amateur when Evander became a professional champion, and it's been eight years since Lewis hung them up. Both men were stopped twice, but Lennox was halted by a single punch both times and got counted out once, while Holyfield sustained TKOs against Bowe and Toney. He's multiple lapped Lennox on longevity alone.

 

He was able to make Valuev look like the circus freak that he is (an apology in advance to all the SNV "fans" in a moment of seriousness), fair enough, but otherwise his 40+ year old run has only made him look worse. He could have retired with dignity after the Lewis fights having a record of 36 wins and only 4 losses, but since then he has added 6 wins and 6 losses to that record. We should congratulate Lewis for getting out at the right time, something Holyfield did not know how to do.

 

not sure what your point is exactly, but hasn't Holyfield lost a couple of fights recently?

You're making him sound like he's the second coming of George Foreman, who by the way, carefully selected his opponents, and that's just not the case. He's 43-10 and 2 draws..that 10 is starting to look pretty ugly. The best thing you can do as a Holyfield fan is to tell him to wrap it up.

You're not one of those guys who thinks winning a meanless belt matters are you? Cause unless he can beat one of the Klitschko brothers, Wlad in particular, him winning a belt isn't going to matter.

I think Holyfield's wins over Tyson and Bowe are better than anything on Lewis' resume.

I also think there's less shame in losing to Bowe in one of the most courageous efforts in HW history than getting KOed by McCall and Rahman.

 

A prime Holyfield is even the better heavyweight... And PFP considering he started at cruiser... I have him way higher than Lewis in the Atg rankings.


Lewis around 65 to 70
Holyfield is possibly top 20 or at least top 25.
