This post has swung my opinion to say no. That is if your basing him being an ATG based on his skill level. If he went and beat margo and then beat PAC Floyd or Martinez I don't think you could deny him based on resume.

I'd agree with that, and I think he will beat Margarito. He may even get a big fight against one of those 3, but I don't feel that he could beat any of them, to be honest. And I hate to say that. Maybe circa '07 he could have troubled Martinez, possibly even won. But Floyd would pick him apart, and we already know Pacquaio is a level above him.

Cotto is going to be an ATG
Look at the names on his win resume

Mosely became a world champ again after losing to Cotto,
Judah became a world champ again after losing to Cotto,
Quintana (undefeated) became a world champ again after losing to Cotto,
Maussa (undefeated) became a world champ again after losing to Cotto,
Ndou became a world champ again after losing to Cotto,
Torres (undefeated) became a world champ again after losing to Cotto,
Malignaggi (undefeated) became a world champ again after losing to Cotto,
    Clottey
    Foreman

Then you have the other names like
    Branco
    Pinto
    Mayorga
    Corley
    Abdullayev

IMO, He is already an ATG.
(People will talk about him amongst the greatest PR/Latin warriors of all-time)
    ^That's enough for me.

He just falls short..But i do think hes should be in the HOF one day,hes definitely earned that much... He would have to pull a big upset like beat Floyd,Martinez.... A win over Margarito wont make him an atg, but it would do alot for his resume.

No, Cotto isn't an ATG. I never seen a fighter get more ghetto passes than Miguel.

One of the top 100 boxers ever? Well providing he beats margo and then a legitimate light middleweight like canelo, rhodes, angulo, cintron, I see no reason why not. But he'll only just make it in my eyes. It's hard to predict these things with active fighters. Based on current resume i'd say no, but a couple of victories away he is.

No. 21% of Showtime viewers during the Salido-Lopez card thought he was the greatest Puerto Rican boxer to have lived when in fact I don't think he has it in him to be better than Camacho who isn't an ATG himself.

Exciting fighter most of the time though and a warrior.

He might beat Margarito, but Margarito isn't an ATG himself and hasn't put in a decent performance since Shane beat him like an 18th century factory owner beats the 12 year old kids cleaning the floor of his cotton mill. He won't beat Manny Pacquiao in a rematch, I don't know how any body can believe that after what they witnessed in their fight. He won't beat Floyd. He won't beat Martinez. He'll get knocked the **** out by Cintron. I honestly believe Cotto is on his way to being done as a relevant boxer.

I'm a big fan of Cotto but I won't put it in top 80 Atg maybe 80-100 if he beats Margo and add another significant win. You can not put every fighter as an ATG the sport has a long history. If Cotto had better defense and punch resistance he could've achieved greatness
