I'd say the attributes Peter posseses would be more useful for someone attempting to beat Wlad than what Haye has.

Haye won't get sparked early. Definitely not. I see this going into the mid to late rounds personally. It will be a shite fight as well with both worried about letting their hands go. Haye will take Wlad's jab away.

The only thing that will carry the fight is the tension, and the idea both could get knocked out at any time. Thats what will carry it from Ibragimov level of shitness to something a little better.

 

3. How many times was Haye Knocked down by cruiserweights vastly smaller than Klitschko? I fully expect Klitschko to do him and hope to find some gullible wankers around Chadsmoor I can get a bit of money out of over it.

 

My pick is Haye behind and points, having start to try and force the fight and getting stopped around the 9th.

 

Peter was a more clubbing fighter and other than punching Wlad on the back of the head, had only sporadic success. Having a sturdy chin and marching forwards haven't ever worked against Wlad except for his meltdown with Lamont.

I don't think Haye will win, but I think he'll be awkward and cute enough early to keep Wlad away. Wlad knows how quick Haye is, so will be unlikely to open up.

There will be a lot of jabbing, with only Wlad doing anything for a long period. Haye will try to close the gap late on and get clocked, but not before causing Wlad some anxious moments.

The only thing I'd have going for Haye is that he is adaptable to his opponent. They'll have a solid gameplan (which was why Haye spent time with Roach, who has worked with both brothers) to get inside and touch Wlad to the body, then open him up for later on. Will it work? Not likely, but I have hope.

 

You have to remember that Wlad was still in the process of regaining his confidence in that fight plus Peter at that time was a really dangerous fighter with a huge punch not the basically shot overweight fighter he is now.

Turn it in. The only joke is the heavyweight division, hence Haye is going to shatter ( quite literally as far as Wlad's chin is concerned ) the aura of invincibility that Wlad has.

Even Frank Bruno in his prime would have flattened Wlad within two rounds.

Bruno is basically a more robotic version of Wlad without the clinch.

I could see Bruno doing a job on David though.

The fight could be interesting what with Wlad's anxiety attacks but the fact that Haye wouldn't let his hands go against the likes of Valuev and Harrison is worrying.

Expect a very **** fight where the atmosphere is entirely derived from wondering who may get knocked out.

 

Sounds exciting a spectacular decapitation, decapitation would be spectacular in itself, so a spectacular decapitation must be something else entirely.

 

You are seriously deluded if you think a prime Wlad would beat a prime Bruno. Bruno lasted five rounds with Tyson in their first fight, Wlad wouldn't have lasted a minute.

Haye will expose Wlad in July and provide further proof if any is needed, that since Lewis retired, the HW division is extremely poor.

 

Peter was always hugely overrated. He was a truly awful puncher and even though he had raw power, he's never been able to use it apart from the one stoppage over Jeremy Williams which was pretty much luck. He's proof of how ineffective power is when yuo have absolutely no technique. No footwork, upper body movement, can't throw combinations to save his life, he only lands regularly when he throws arm punches, poor stamina - A 'decent', at best, fighter. It's amazing he was as successful as he was because Vitali showed his true level when he completely shut him out. Take away the Williams knockout, his three knockdowns over Wlad, the win over an ancient Maskaev, and you have a very, very limited career. He'll look good beating poor fighters, yes, but he was extremely lucky to have a sustained run at the top and be considered elite for a couple of years.
