I live in Luton and have been following this. He had an open gym to "audition" fighters from around the country and has taken in guys at different weights. Someone else is putting up the money but he runs everything else. He has moved the gym recently. Every now and then there will be a local advert for a show usually with an area title on the card. Havent been myself.
Best of luck to him but I don't think he'll last as a promotor, too much competition and not enough fish. He may find a decent enough niche as a trainer There was a rumour going around at the time of the Khan fight that he was BNP member. Any truth to it?
Not that I'm aware of. Dont know too much about the guy as a person or his local history but he doesn't seem to be the type to me.
Earl was a very good fighter,he beat some excellent lads in his prime and i wish him all the best as a promoter/trainer. PS one of the very few guys who stayed for the agreed time when sparring Scott Harrison
Heard gd things about him as a trainer and he was a good fighter but as a manager and a promoter he ain't very good he works very closely with Goodwin promotions!! Who put alot of shows on at York hall!!
Billy I think you would also make a good promotor, Although you have trained world champions I think there is a market in Scotland and there should more than just Tommy Gilmour. Do you think you could start putting on shows at the Bellahousten and work your way up to the SECC? Or do you have no interest in that? Also the gym you have seems abit remote? A converted scout shed? Was there not something more central and larger available?
It's not actually that far from city centre it's a cracking gym small but got everything it needs inside!! For swimming and all cardio work there's a massive gym 2 mins away with everything in!!
