Why did Cotto move to 154 after the Pac fight?

I never read that he was having issues making 147, and when he 1st moved up to 147, he looked sharp and filled out as compared to 140.

He weighed in at 145 for the Pac fight, and said he had no trouble doing so. Was this true, or was he really busting at the seams, and needed to move to 154?

I think because he didn't have really big challenges left at 147 apart from Berto who isn't a big seller, and he also wanted a title in a third division.

Steward said after Cotto's win against Foreman that Cotto should go back to 147, but I guess the bigger top rank fights are there for him at 54

147 was still jam packed at the point, but the 3rd title in a 3rd division makes sense.

Could he still be effective at 147?

He needs to go back to 147 . He won't be able to take punches from the tops guys at 154. They should make the margo rematch at 147 too.

He can't beat pac and he already beat mosley-clottey-judah etc so he had to look for other challenge.

cotto vs margarito 2 should be interesting

Well i believe he can beat Berto.

A fight with Ortiz would be interesting. Even then i still think Cotto beats him.

He probably can still make noise at 147.

It is a common mistake. When guys lose to the top guy they often move up instead of buying their time at the weight they currently fight at. Moving up has done nothing for Cotto absolutely nothing.

^ Berto doesn't bring enough $$ to the table and Cotto's already beaten Mosley + Clottey
Mayweather most likely isn't coming back, and Pacquiao already beat Cotto

if moving up was such a bad idea, then all things considered what should Cotto have done at Welterweight that's so "can't miss?"
