Can Cotto become a Atg? and what does he have to do

    Why not, I don't think he will but sure he can. If he beat Mayweather and Pac in a rematch he would be top 20

    He is young and this is My opinion...

    IMO he could be.It's gonna take him a alot though....

    -Rematch and beat PAC, he has the style if he boxes in a safety first style and not try and be the agressor and bully pac...
    -Beat Martinez
    -Beat Canelo alvarez
    -Beat JCC JR
    -Beat Angulo
    - Margarito
    -finish it by beating Mayweather

    How many of these he wins will put him higher in the ATG list.

    Currently I don't think he is even in the HOF? I am not sure though.

    All IMO, I think if cotto boxes and plays it smart he can accomplish most of thse. With Martinez/May/PAC being the hardest. There is also the GBP TR fight that will limit the fights he can have... SO yes he is capable... but IMO he will never be as there are to many things stopping many of these fights.

    thats one hell of a list to accomplish, out of those 7 fights I think he can win 3/4 at best. If we think about bob arum operates it seems logical that margarito happens now, cintron, pac 2, chavez/alvarez/other 154 guy if he is able to put all those in wins it would be pretty amazing.

    He will be Top 2 all time if he does that. Beating Manny Pacquiao AS WELL AS Floyd Mayweather as you seem to require...

    No seriously. He needs to unify at 154 and avenge Margarito and he is an ATG having only a loss to Pacquiao in his career and having forced Floyd to run for the hills in 2008...

    Plus I added conditions... Check in BOLD.


    Anyone can be ATG.. they just have to do inredible things... not most can do that though..

    It's all up to cotto and his promoter.

    All he needs is the Marg rematch and Sergio at 154 -160.. both winnable fights.

    no, he can't because of what it would take/require him to do that I dont think he is capable of doing.... some posters say that if he "beats margo" that he'll be a shoe in... really??... i laughed when i read that one... beating margarito right now will do nothing to his legacy because margo just came off a loss... BUT if margo had beat pac and THEN cotto fought and beat margo... that's a whole different story. He would have avenged his first pro loss AND beaten the guy who beat the man(at 147).

    In my opinion, in order for cotto to be an ATG right now, he will need to unify 154 then move up to 160, beat martinez and unify that division. (which is highly, unlikely)

    Mosely became a world champ again after losing to Cotto,
    Judah became a world champ again after losing to Cotto,
    Quintana (undefeated) became a world champ after losing to Cotto,
    Maussa (undefeated) became a world champ after losing to Cotto,
    Ndou became a world champ after losing to Cotto,
    Torres (undefeated) became a world champ after losing to Cotto,
    Malignaggi (undefeated) became a world champ after losing to Cotto,
    Clottey
    Foreman

    Then you have the other names like
    Branco
    Pinto
    Mayorga
    Corley
    Abdullayev

    Im surprised so many dismiss Cotto with his resume. Cotto hasnt ducked anyone.
    Mayweather beating Mosely was considered as one of Mayweathers big wins yet had beaten Mosely years previously
