Rahman had trouble with Ruiz for the same reason Holy did. Ruiz was very quick jabbing and falling in with his righthand. That horrible move gave a lot of Ruiz opponents fits. Rahman was just too slow to counter it, as was Holyfield.

Yep! Rahman could of been landing more, I remember watching this and all of is saw places where hasim could of landed. He waited until like 10 seconds left in the 12th round to throw a really hard punch to Ruiz , which Ruiz then had a awesome chin. He took it well and the fight was over, pretty lopsided. If he'd landed more of those throgh the fight who knows, but horrible gameplan and fits Ruiz gave.

He had a good bench, how does that translate to functional grappling strength?

I haven;t seen a lot from Rahman in the ring that validates him being particularly strong.

Shane Mosley benches over 300, but he couldnt outmuscle Mayweather who is pretty weak on the weights. Youre right its meaningless in my opinion.

He was able to bully around James Toney but that goes without saying - Toney is pretty small for a heavyweight. His size and physical power was good to have against Meehan especially backing him into the ropes and just clubbing on him.

I saw some of his recent fights , the 4 KO's of the unknowns from last year. While the punch is still there, looks slower than usual. Also, he looked a little shaky on his feet not sure he could take a good punch at all. Never had the best chin but he was a bit rusty in these fights.

Even though he avenged McCall and Rahman, Lewis hurt himself the first time around against these two. He was overconfident and lackadaisical to training.
