Rafa is past it and dosn't have that pop in his punches like he did at 118. I don't think he could beat the younger, stronger, and faster Gamboa. But Rafa does have some very technical skills that might make the fight interesting and competitive for a bit. Shot I think he could give Gamboa some problems and might even drop him, but down the stretch I see Rafa coming up short.

  3. Make the fight. War RAFA MARQUEZ

This is one of those special upsets waiting to be written into boxing history books. Rafa's left hook all day in this fight.

**** Arum I'm tired of the recycled opponents

Mtagwa, Salido, Marquez, their resumes are becoming identical

I hope Marquez pulls a Salido im tired of Gamboa and Juanma being given uninteresting opponents, at least on paper because Salido fought a great fight

I've always thought that Rafa's jab, straight right and uppercut were superior punches to his left-hook but I suppose it could still be the key punch against Gamboa.

Boxrec has him listed at 5'5" but i have seen him listed before at 5'7" too so its hard to know for sure. He looks pretty tall for a BMW so i think 5'7" is about right. No way in hell he is 5'5".
Boxrec also shows him to have a 3.5" reach advantage which he of course would not use since he likes to fight on the inside.

You know what Rafa has power and experience on his side. I guess him winning wouldnt that far out of the question. Rubio Morales and the guy that beat Kirkland were supposed to have no shot and look at what they did.

Thats right. Rafa has one of the best jabs in boxing. How the hell did i forget that. I used to model mine after his. Its like a piston. So quick with so much force behind it.

    Agreed.

But most likely it will be Gamboa by a brutal beatdown. But Marquez wont go down without landing some good shots of his own, thats for sure.

I've got his fight with Juanma on my PC, and before the fight Showtime lists both as being 5'5½", with identical reaches of 68". I don't know how accurate that is, but I would certainly take it over whatever boxrec is listing him as. Although to me, he seems a tad taller than 5'5½", but I can't be sure.

This is wrong. I applaud Rafas bravery and he had his moment when he hurt Juanma midfight, but he was getting outgunned. I give him less of a chance with Gamboa, but at least Gamboa wont be in with a fighter that cant win because even a faded Rafa is very dangerous. I think it might be better than most people think. Mexico has been on a warpath as of late I wouldnt count Rafa out.
