he will say the same thing- RTE have a budget- it is tied up on contracts they signed three years ago- i.e they commit to five years of champions league- no contracts are done on yearly basis- also they have no discretionary budget and boxing always came under that budget...the money put aside for last minute things popping up.. plus i dnt contact him he contact me- haha-
RTÉ are a disgrace. They can afford to show the royal wedding ****, but they "couldn't" afford Willie's title fight. They didn't have time/wouldn't put Dudey on "The Saturday Show" to publicise his fight. RTÉ do of course have plenty of money for lavish magner's league rubbish. The RTÉ top lads should be shot or have at least a threatening letter (Fitzey style) sent to them:smoke
They are almost certainly getting this for free and just using the same footage as every other channel, it's not like the royal family is selling the rights to it or looking to put it on ppv! To be honest its a no brainer for any tv station to show this, stick it on for nowt, get a great audience for a friday morning and sell ads off the back of it.
This forum seems to be steering a little of track. Lets get back to discussing Irish boxing. Anyone geting excited about London 2012? Also - anyone know if Warren is planning a show here any time soon?
I wrote an article on Warren doing some shows here a while ago, based on an interview I did with him. While he would not commit to anything, he said he would like to do one or two shows later on in the year once present commitments are honoured. Belfast or Dublin, I asked, and he said well why not both? With Ormond, Spike and Dean Byrne in his stable, and a previous history with Rogan, why not? He can back it up with Gavin and hell maybe even DeGale, seeing as we know who he is of course. Any promoter with eyes in his head will have seen what happened last week in Manchester and will try to tap into that buzz. Hopefully, he wasn't just saying this stuff and these shows might be put on. He would also need a bigger name involved to sell a show here in Dublin I reckon. Rogan however could headline Belfast and the rest fall in.
Me. That reminds me tomorrow is the deadline to order tickets for the competition. Did you order any tickets, and what were they?
