Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer said Monday that Top Rank has made a formal, written offer for Marquez, the lightweight champ, to challenge Pacquiao for his welterweight title on a date to be determined in October if he defeats Mosley.

Schaefer said the offer was sent to Golden Boy's attorney by Top Rank's attorney.

Marquez's contract with Golden Boy expired at the end of February. Although Golden Boy has offered him fights and discussed a new deal with him, he has not accepted while holding out hope for a third fight with Pacquiao.

Yeah I know Pac will blow him out at welter and JMM shouldn't really go up that high in weight but I still want to see it! These two have unfinished business.

Don't really like the fight TBH. it looks a little more appealing now that JMM has dominated Kats, but I think Pacquiao takes him apart at 147. Would have preferred it at 140 if I'm honest. JMM should fight Roberto Guerrero and PAC should be looking at maybe Ortiz.

It is unfinished business but like you say pac is now too big for JMM so dont see much value in it as a fight. Marquez was too small for mayweather at welter, pac is running out of viable opponents this side of 160lbs.

Not sure the weight makes so much difference, it hasn't done for Pacquaio has it.

I know that Marquez looked overmatched and outweighed against Mayweather but it was Mayweather's skills that did that as much as size, besides Manny's naturally smaller than Floyd.

Think this would be a good fight, would much rather see it then Mosley, Margarito or Clottey anyhow.

    I want to see it.

Marquez is obviously dying to have another go at this, and he still looks in top form from his recent outings.

Pacman hasn't got many other guys left to go through, even though I would love to see him go through some of the new fellas around like Ortiz or Bradley, I wouldnt give them a better chance than this version of Marquez.

Hopefully it will be at 140 instead of 147, but no doubt they'll make JMM agree to the higher weight.

Presumebly that would be at 147 and Bradley is just not the same fighter up there.

It's the biggest fight in boxing right now.

P4P #1 vs P4P #2 - the weight is irrelevant given that neither are natural welterweights anyway.

There's unfinished business between the two and their respective styles guarantee a great fight.

I'll definitely go to this :happy

Marquez should just come in at his comfortable weight. Forget blowing up.

your basing that off one fight and i don't think Bradley vs Pacquiao is a different fight at 140 or 147.

If you choose to rank Martinez ahead of Marquez as the 2nd best active fighter then I've got no qualms with that.

But Mayweather is irrelevant in the current boxing scene. Three fights in four years and multiple court cases pending for various indiscretions. I know he's always been full of this "I love my fans in the UK and would love to perform for them" crap, but given those blatant lies and the slanderous allegations of drug use against Pacquiao it's pretty obvious he doesn't fancy the job, despite being offered millions to get in there.

If it's not that its "get rid of your boss" or "I'm taking a vacation". He's indefensible.

Name a bigger fight than Marquez vs Pacquiao III..... you've ****ing no chance :deal
