I went to the promotion yesterday & saw a good afternoon's boxing. It was a good show from new promoter, Adam Willcock, & good to see a promotion in the western suburbs.
Jason Kanofski was always a punch or two in front of Brad Hemming.
Faisal Fayad was too busy and had the points over Mark Dalby until Mark opened up in the 6th & looked good.
Todd Kidd was the better boxer, but was too cautious against Alex Ahtong.
What happens in regards to the cancelled fight between Rivan Cessaire & Tim Hunt? Do they fight at a later date, share the points, or does Cessaire win by forfeit?

    Good question.

There is a website for this tournament but it's not quite up to date at present:

    http://www.fightcardpromotions.com.au/index.html

Apparently the cut Hunt received in sparring was about 10 stitches worth, so he's unlikely to be ready any time soon.

How many would you say attended? I figured it was unwise to go 2 days after Flemington show, Katsidis' fight. Football also doesn't help.

There's another withdrawl due to injury. I think it's Hemming that has multiple breaks in his nose.

They are dropping like flies out of this tournament DB!

From the original 8 we've had at least Paulley, Barnes, Hunt and Hemming so far. Though they seem to think Hunt will heal quick enough to come back in next month's 3rd round.

Just a bit on how this tournament actually works:

    Preliminary Round
At the end of the preliminary round the 4 fighters with the highest points total progress to the semi finals.

    Semi Finals
The 1st placed fighter on the ladder fights 4th, and the 2nd placed fighter fights 3rd. Semi-finals are over 8 x 3 minute rounds.

    Final
The winners of the two semi-finals progress to the final. The final is over 12 x 3 minute rounds.

The winner of the final is crowned the Australian Fight Series champion and the final is also for the IBO Asia Pacific title.

Next round on the 13th of May at Fortitute Stadium (Qld) reads as follows:

    Kidd (5) vs Fayad (2)
    Hunt (3) vs Artong (3)
    Cessiare (3) vs Kanofski (2)

The numbers in brackets are the points they've accumulated so far.

(Hunt & Cessiare have a bout still to make-up - was postponed due to Hunt's eye injury)

Do the guys that come in late as replacements get a 'catch up' bout?
