is this a valid criticism? does this diminish their achievements at the weight class?
nonito, margo, p.will comes to mind.

there shouldn't be a problem as long as they make the weight limit. draining also cost themselves, so imo its fair.

I brought this subject up a while ago when Prince Arron won a prizefighter tournament, i felt it was simply an impossible task for any of his opponents to beat him over the 3 round distance as they needed 1 or 2 rounds to adjust to his height and length. Problem is if he can make weight it is perfectly fair, to me though he was an odd choice for the tournament.

3 round fights are not a good reference.

Anyone who makes the weight is fair game.

Duno. But **** it man, if you can make the weight fight wherever you want. Obviously it's all gotta be taken into context when measuring your wins@ that weight, but i don't see anything particularly wrong with it.

Over 12 rounds its all fair game, over 3 rounds Prince Arron was a poor choice for inclusion in the tournament.:smoke

if you think that being to small for your division is a criticism then i guess being to big can be to

Well, I don't have any sympathy for fighters who, after a defeat, complain about draining themselves or trouble making weight. It seems like the vast majority of guys fight in an unnatural division - if that comes back to haunt to, it serves you right.

Maybe going back to same-day weigh-ins would help. Boxing moved away from them for safety reasons (to give guys more time to re-hydrate) but they couldn't have envisioned guys taking it to the extremes they do now. Killing yourself to make weight, then putting on 15-20lbs overnight can't be healthy in the long run and negates any short-term advantages it gives you.

Only when it helps them in an argument about fighters. (Does size matter)
Other than that, If they make weight then "itiswhatitis"

it's a very stupid argument used by haters. It was especially stupid in the case of Paul Williams. Some fans were asking for height divisions :)

i don't think fighters should be able to rehydrate 15-20lbs i think they should do same day weight ins because your not really fighting at your agreed weight your a good 2 if not 3 weights above it which is ridiculous. I know if i was a fighter i wouldn't be happy fighting some **** whos got 20lbs on me.
