Presently Pacquiao in a tie with Mike Tyson as the only fighter in pay-per-view history to generate at least 1 million buys for a fight in three consecutive years.

2008: VS. Dela Hoya - 1.25 million PPV buys
2009: VS. Cotto - 1.2 million PPV buys
2010: VS. Margarito - 1.15 million PPV buys

    2011: VS. Mosley - ?.??

Can Pacquiao do the 1 million PPV buy with Mosley fight? If not, Pacquiao can surely do more than 1 million PPV buys against JMM in October.

Pac did 725k against Clottey (a much lesser name) with an extremely abbreviated press tour (fight was signed 3 days before the fighters had to start training) and no 24/7 or any serious promotion at all. This fight will definitely do over 1mil.

Most likely Pacquiao will be able to set a NEW boxing record this year as the only fighter in pay-per-view history to generate at least 1 million buys for a fight in FOUR consecutive years (2008 to 2011).

    What a feat!

Two big names usually = great PPV.

This one should break the 1mill mark!

It probably will because the casual boxing fan has heard of Mosley. They remember him has the guy that upset De La Hoya. They don't remember him as the guy who just got whooped by Mayweather and looked very average vs Mora. Us true boxing fans know this fight isn't worth the PPV, but the casual fan will surely buy into it.

Good point, and something I never considered. I don't plan on buying the card because I know better. But, somewhere there's a guy who doesn't follow the sport that closely and wants to have the big fight at his house. We cancel each other out.

Arum doesn't care if the buy is a boxing fan or totally clueless.

Pac could very easily beat this record. Even though Mosley does not bring the huge Mexican fanbase, Pacman has a huge following all over the world, And Mosley is a known name in boxing for many years now. I hope its a success not so much for the fighters, but for boxing in general as I am one of the few who believe it will be a great fight.
