I know Holmes competition wasn't that great, the point of my post was that his comp was easily comparable to either Klit, yet he never lost.

You can't say the same about either brother despite all the scorecard whinings. That affects their standing big time in America and it has nothing to do with race as was my original point.

...............and Dude, I lived my whole life in America. I know what the average American likes to watch is a tough man competition where a ghetto thug gangsta wannabe fights a midwestern bouncer who's a former bodybuilder or weightlifter ie: Ty Fields and the like.

Perfectly put. Easy to slate on Holmes due to his relatively weak era I know, but put the 38 year old version in with WALDO or VITLAY and we'd have a snooze-fest. Put a younger version in there and it'd be a talent contest with both brothers losing badly.

Larry never got KO'd by bums, fact. Weak era yes, just like the Klits but at least he truly dominated unlike these guys.

Are you seriously suggesting that Lewis wasn't supposed to win against Briggs, Mercer, VITLAY or Mavrovic?

History lesson, he was favourite in all those fights and won them all despite the odd moment of adversity. 10 years later, the Klits would consider shot Mercer and Briggs as significant wins...it's akin to Tyson beating up on Holmes only Tyson did a proper job which is why he's respected much more than the brothers.

Adversity was the point. When Lennox was down on the cards or scrambling he showed the true champion in him. He became more aggressive. That was the point.

Holmes was completely shot when he lost to Tyson and even then it wasn't a serious "knocked the **** out" moment for Tyson's resumé.

Nope. Larrys era was no better or worse than the current one, difference was as I keep saying, he never got KO'd or quit against bums.

You can posture about the Soviet HW's all you like from back then but you know as well as I do that there weren't any out there that could have beaten Larry, if there were then they'd have defected and taken the dollars.

It actually was a serious "knocked the **** out" moment on Tysons resume, Holmes is still the biggest name on Tysons CV, considering what Holmes managed to achiever after he got brutally KO'd by Tyson.

Yeah, I've made that point before. It's simply stupid to criticize a guy because of the competition they beat, as long as they fight the best. You can't click your fingers and immediately have 10 Joe Louis', 10 Joe Frazier's, 10 George Foreman's or whatever. A fighter can only beat who is out there.

However, if a fighter is around in a weak era, it's incredibly important that they dominate. Holmes did, Louis did, Marciano did, Tyson did...Wlad hasn't.

I am a lifelong boxing fan who comes from a boxing family. I was watching the Wlad v Tony Thompson fight a few years back, until it got to the 8th round. I then turned it off and found something better to do with my time. I thought to myself at the time that i never thought i would see the day i would turn a championship fight off, nevermind a heavyweight title fight! I think the bros are top level heavies (i prefer Vitali), but i think this should give you an indication as to why they are not thought highly of in the US or in numerous other boxing nations.
The TS is a an idiot who is just another nuthugger playing the victim on behalf of the bros. I haven't got a clue what Ali has got to do with Wlad's all time standing, has they are clearly worlds apart has fighters. I suppose it's just another Klitschko fan trying to link Wlad to an ATG's name, in the vein hope that people will see him as one too.
Some of you guy's in the general really should pick another sport to chew the fat over.
The Klits are quality heavies but don't deserve no more love than they are getting, simpy because they just don't do enough.
Wlad is a credit to himself has a person. Vitali has no class at all.

Its just strange that Americans never give an answer to the following question:If the current era is so weak then why doesnt an American rule it?

Every era (= hundreds of fighters)
is better than the previous one
because sportsmen get better and better
from generation to generation.

The only exception are special circumstances
(like epidemics)

thus anybody who claims that this era is dire has the burden of proof. Not the ones who claim that this era is good have to prove it. Instead the ones who claim that Alis era (= an era 40-50 years ago) is much better have to prove it.(And by prove it I mean _concrete proofs_ (not non-answers like If you dont see it then you are blind)

a proof that training methods are worse than 40+ years ago
a proof that sports nutrition (and pharmaceuticals) are worse than 40+ years ago
a proof that the fighting knowledge of trainers is worse than 40+ years ago
a proof that the preparation methods for a fight (sparring, video taping, computer aided practice) is worse than 40+ years ago
a proof that past-time techniques would equally work on nowadays opponents who are bigger and stronger
Good luck.

once I even read why BLACKS in the USA are supposedly the superior race: Because of slavery! Its as ridiculous as claiming that Americans ruled in the Golden Age of Boxing because Englishmen played Golf.
The opposite is probably true: Since Eastern Europeans are hardly interested in Basketball and Gridiron (e.g. American Football) Americans can still be at top in these sport fields.
And I wonder why Muhammad Ali wasnt playing basketball if it was so much better. And I wonder why some of the current top basketball players dont decide to step into the ring with the Klitschkos to earn millions, if its so easy.
