    Its means I find it hard to believe that those Marciano measurements are correct.

    It means you'd definately kick Rocky's ass and Ali and Holmes were ducking Arnold in the 70s and 80s. Watching the Terminator movies pretty much confirms this for me

    Tom Sharkey had a massive tattoo on his chest, showing he could tolerate pain. Personally, I don't like tatts, would never consider getting one, but I suspect there are some adorned posters here who favor Sailor Tom on the basis of his body art. However, I somehow doubt Sharkey was as awesome as Redd Foxx, who claimed he had "Mississippi" tattooed on a portion of his anatomy he couldn't publicly display.

    Who disputes this? This is not the same as size as boxing unfortunately goes by the archaic weight classes. I'm sure Tony Galento measurements would look that way against Larry Holmes or Joe Louis. Or Qawi against Holyfield. So what?

    I'm not even getting this argument. They're obviously pretty comparable in size. Marciano is the far better fighter, though.

    Really, I thought the only one who ducked Arnie was Stallone.

    And I dont see how you of all people could conclude from watching Terminator in the 80s that Ali and Holmes were ducking him. Did you even watch the available film? Arnie was KOd by Linda Hamilton and she weighs less than Fitz!

    I'm not particularly a fan of measurements myself but I happen to have the measurements from the Philadelphia Enquirer (1898 I think) of their top 8 contenders, Fitz, Corbett, Jackson, Maher, Sharkey, McCoy, Jeffries and Choynski. They are interesting because of their contemporaneousness( Thank God for spell-check!) and more likely to be correct IMO.
    A few points of interest;
    Sharkey's stats differ on these counts;
    Weight 190
    Forearm 12 1/2
    Height 5-8 1/2
    and slight difference in the other measurements.

    Jeffries is listed as 6-1, a height that all-ways seemed correct to me.
    Other interesting one's are Jackson with the longest reach, 77, Jeffries with biceps of 15 3/4,
    Arm length an interesting measurement is given, and Fitz is credited with a reach of 75 1/4 while Jeff is only 72!
    All-in-all they make interesting reading.

    Don't their weights suggest mass ?

    The tale of the tape just shows certain measurements, not the total space the object occupies.

    The only accurate way to measure that would be the water displacement test, I suppose.
