Cotto Flat footed ? Are you out of your mind ?????? In fact Mayweather was hurt the worst in all the 8 fights Mosley had and when Mosley was oldest and out of the ring for his longest duration.
I guess I imagined him parading around the ring with no gloves on after the Cotto fight then? [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_-izQ3m_a1c[/ame] Y'know, just like at 2:50 in this vid?
Thankfully you don't get to decide that. Margarito was seen as elite by pretty much the boxing world (trainers, analysts, boxers)...
I said I dont give him credit for his wins vs Cotto and Cintron and I know Cotto fight there is no evidence I am talking about the Cintron fight.
The problem with these stats is that we consider many of these fighters great *because* they beat Mosley. Observe: If Margarito had knocked out Mosley, is there any doubt this thread would have began with, "Look at Mosley's KO Record vs The best he fought. 9 Fights - 0 Knockouts Overall 0 wins and 7 Loses to Cotto, Floyd, Winky, Vernon and Margarito If Mosley had beaten Vernon Forrest, is there any doubt the poster would have disputed that Forrest was great and should therefore count in Mosley's favor? That's not to say that this OP had an agenda against Mosley. It's more to say that the difference between being considered great or not great often comes down to a single fight, and for many fighters, that axis IS Shane Mosley. That's largely because Mosley would take high-risk, low reward fights against talented but little- known opponents who any superstar would avoid like the plague. Would we have heard of Winky Wright or Vernon Forrest if Mosley did what every other elite boxer did and ignore them? Hell, Mosley made Floyd's reputation as a welterweight. Unfortunately, Mosley paid the price for doing what we always wanted our best fighters to do. And now he's reduced to deceptive yet humiliating stats like the one that started this thread.
Well if you want to put Margarito, Vargas and Mayorga on the same level as Floyd, Oscar, Winky etc that is your choice. In Elite I am talking about the highest level of boxers and clearly the list I presented is just that.
if you consider Fleet a foot (foot speed) and fighting flat footed the same thing than there is no point of having this argument.
Forrest, Winky, and Oscar were all bigger elite fighters close to their primes. Cotto had his best performance vs Shane cant knock Cotto on that Cotto was in his prime. I dont see Pacman knocking out a prime Winky, Oscar, Forrest either and prime Cotto maybe loses by decision not by tko.
Margarito was gigantic when Shane beat him, he beat undefeated Cotto and was all over the covers or Ring Magazine and was the favorite and everybody on here was on his bandwagon.....plus all the people who said Floyd ducked him, Margartio was on a huge pedestal when Shane beat him Vargas was an elite fighter dont kid yourself a young champion went to war with Tito was on a comeback was ahead on at least one card in the 1st Mosley fight the rematch was on PPV with a huge hyping and Shane made it look easy Mayorga was a welterweight undisputed champ and had held 154 lb titles no slouch
Not to mention Forrest and Wright became elite by beating Shane so that says volumes about Shane and to say he cant hit hard is stupidity
