I don't know where it came from, and personally I don't give a ****, the bottom line is that it hasn't impacted any of the fights. So I'm not sure what the problem is.

Truth is all of the original S6 fighters have travelled, Ward hasnt shown he can win a big fight away and has been allowed to do alot of dirty fighting.
Many American SMWs cant win big fights away -
B Mitchell lost away to Girard, Ottke and Calzaghe
Brewer lost away to Calzaghe and Veit
J Taylor lost away to Abraham
Dirrell lost away to Froch
Lacy lost away to Calzaghe
The list goes on and on

So Ward hasnt tried proving himself on the road in big fights

 

For those of you not familiar with California, my home state is larger than most European countries. Ward is travelling hundreds of miles from Oakland to Industry. If the fight was on the East Coast, this would be a distance spanning several states.

I have lived in both Northern and Southern California and can tell you that there is a definite rivalry between the two halves. A northern california baseball fan just got pummelled and put into the hospital in a coma for attending a game in southern california.

Obviously, it's not the same as travelling outside of a national border, but this is not a hometown fight. General rule of thumb: if you have to take a jet to get there, it's not that close.
