So, if a Florida based fighter was fighting in North Carolina, would you consider that a hometown fight?

    It's the same distance.

Or did you not take geography?

Who would you consider as the away fighter, the American or the Armenian?

Thieves lock their doors at night, and if you saw AA vs Miranda 1, you would know why AA is locking this door...

    What a whining hypocrit...

The Armenian is travelling further, but will probably have as many fans outside of LA as the Oakland fighter.

It's not the same as crossing a border, I've said so. BUT, this is not a hometown fight. It's a big enough distance that I fly to NoCal for weddings, reunions, etc....

Than why is it that if a fighter is English and comes from the South and fights in Scotland which is a different country and quite a good few hundred miles away, do so many American posters say they are home fighters and the UK is the UK. Double standards. Maybe not from you personally, but double standards no less. Ottke fought in some Different parts of Germany and gets called a home fighter for example

I did read your post and thought it was a good post. I actually thought something similar when it all first started and I think it was S Mosely that made a comment that it was a long contest.

Especially for you though, it was a good post. Why Vegas though? It should be where the fighters will get the most money, which would have probably have been in somewhere like Germany if AA was there for (as he is) the most part of the tournament

Honestly, it's literally ignorance. Americans don't know about regional rivalries or the geography of the UK. Most of them don't realize I'm closer to both Phoenix, Arizona and Las Vegas, Nevada than I am to Oakland, CA.

To me, unless the guy can literally drive home right after the fight, it's not a "hometown fight." Otkke can be accused of staying in Europe, but it's not like he only fights at the local arena.

Fair enough Jeffjoiner, I cannot accuse you of being as ignorant as many others on the forum.
In the case of Ottke, when he became champ, it would be hard to make a case for him to travel as he was champ and challengers are supposed to go to the champ in general and he was a unified champ fighting where he was making the most money. I think the difference with the S6 though is that all of the original members have taken turns to travel except Ward

Yeah one of the biggest state athletic commissions is influenced by small time Dan Goosen.:patsch

If Goosen has this "kinda" pull over then imagine what kinda of pull Top Rank, Don King, GBP ect have and imagine of the trick they pull. So if its that easy lets really think about how often this is done in boxing and then point the finger all at the fighter.:patsch
