Which performance by Hagler impresses you the most?

Mugabi for me, if for no other reason than it showed The Marvelous One's mental fortitude

 

Nah. He was pretty far gone by that point. He showed his toughness there, but also showed his toughness in earlier fights while showing more skill.

Like the Hart fight, for example. He was also technically superb against Briscoe and Sibson, to name just a couple.

First round knockout over Caveman Lee was pretty impressive. Hagler was in his prime when they fought around 1981.

 

Since I find Minter to be the most underrated boxer around I would day this...it was this fight that made me seek out some of Minters best performances (alot that I had not seen in the States)..Unorthodox style, straight stand-up style (looked like he was a KO waiting to happen...but who did it?) great jab..unfortunately the propensity of cuts hurt his legacy a great deal..he actually landed some good shots on Hagler, and outside of the cuts think he may have actually lasted (not won) that fight as well! Hagler's outboxing of the unorthodox Minter ranks high on my list!

I actually scored the figt a draw! and I am a much bigger hagler fan (an adopted Philly boy) than SRL...but this has to be one of his worst performances (outside of Willie The Worm Monroe!) ever..he was slow, he was not aggressive enough to late (and was hurt by SRL ring size specifications even then), many of his punches were off the mark..i have no problem calling it a Hagler win, but the performance was no where near his best! IMO

The Sibson fight was probably when he was at his best, but given the opponent and the change of styles, I'd go with the Hearns fight.

Against such a tall fighter with great outside skills, Hagler threw caution to the wind and just had a kamikaze attack. It was pretty amazing that a fighter who was generally more of a boxer-puncher who liked to use his jab so much fight differently and destroy a great fighter like that.

 

I must agree on Sibson, Tony was a bomb waiting to go off that night and Mavin with is vesatility completel defused him, Tony of course took it out on Undefeated Prospect Irish John Collins in is next Visit,
