I dont buy that it wasnt a robbery at all, thats sweeping it under the carpet imo, Smith won 3 rds (4 at an absolute push), you cant give someone the decision in them circumstances, its bull****.

Wasn't just that, Smith was clearly knackered from halfway through and holding on for the second half of the fight apart from rd 10, his hugging spoiling tactics said it all, how he got away with it without a warning is beyond me.

 

yeah smiths spoiling ruined the fight then just got really scrappy.

If im honest Billy apart from round 3 I didnt think there was any rounds hard to score. Tough bout but easy to see John won imo

bbbc are trying to re-invent pro boxing but with the way the ref and one of the judges score the contest is crazy and thats why boxing in briton is struggling as the punters are walking away from the sport look at the how empty the venues are. john is a great we boxer who gives 110% everytime

 

it would be nice if they did.

although we know how the fight will go - smith's only means of handling simpsons relentless pressure is holding and spoiling and its not pretty to watch.

if it does happen i hope its not on a maloney promotion so they dont have to wear those BBEs

 

John Simpson won that fight, it disgusted me that he was so far down, I saw him win at least 7 rounds and so did almost everyone else, I had Simpson up 116-112

 

Why would anyone want to eatch Smith hug all night again?

 

A referee should never score a boxing match, how can he be accurate when he is in the middle, pulling them apart, warning them, looking for fouls and head clashes, he is too close to the action, were as other Judges are sat back a bit, looking at the whole picture and most importently are only looking at point scoring, no other distractions.

I must say though that it is not so unbelievable for one Judge to score big in a tight affair, if that Judge scores for a boxer when it should have either gone the other way or been very even, he must like the work of that boxer ie the way he punches, his technique or how he rides punches, he could then be swayed towards that boxer for the remainder of the fight, Right or Wrong, in case I think wrong. Smith did not score the contest but what he did do was show real heart and grit, as did Simpson, both fought back from the brink. Credit to two great warriors, who have had the greatest respect for each other throughout the two great fights.

 

Yet AGAIN! Simpson was cheated out of a win, do the english judges not like this guy ffsake. Ridiculous man, he won their first fight and won that one also, the board need to get rid of these clowns that cant score a fight fairly, shockingly bad

 

The ref should never score the fight. It is madness.

 

Just echoing the thoughts of everyone else, gutted for John but somehow i knew he was never getting the points win when i seen who the judges where, O'Connor is an absolute disgrace there was in no way that big a margin between the 2 men and he should be sorted out for that!

Swifty got the nod yet again but he is far from pleasing on the eye to watch, 24 rounds with Simpson and hugged for at least 20 of them, gutted for John and hard to see where his motivation comes from now, titles are the life bood of this business and just fighting for money won't be the same incentive.

 

I actually thought Simpson won the first fight clearer, although I only seen it live and haven't seen it on telly.
