I think we all know that there is no actual list. But the idea is, "The Man Who Beat The Man!"

Thoughts. I have forced Mayweather to vacate his title! :good

We lost the lineage when Floyd retired. Hasn't been established since. Although Pac is making the best case for it, since he's the only one beating other top WW's.

My theory is that there is always a champion and I deemed Paul Williams

That's fine to have your own theory, but that doesn't make it legit. Not to mention, HOW is it Williams anyway? Seems random.

Floyd is still it. His retirement wasn't legit to begin with, there's no way in hell it's Manny because after the 3 way merry go round of Cotto-Marg-Mosley, Mosley became "the Man" while Floyd was still lineal. He came back still as lineal and re-established his spot without ever really losing lineage.

He retired whether we all knew he'd be back or not. It counts.

What top welterweight did Manny beat?

    Oscar wasn't. Cotto wasn't. Clottey certainly wasn't.

It's vacant, although there's a minority position that says after Mayweather retried, Cotto-Margarito established a new lineage. So some people believe Floyd regained the lineal title against Mosley.
